WTF?
How is Doug Ford still a thing?
How is he polling in the high 30s?
Do people not see the in-your-face corruption?
How is anyone in this province even remotely enamouredโฆ
1/
โฆwith a barely educated, barely literate, former strip mall hash dealer with a penchant for folksy populism, and blatant grift?
The man got elected on a platform of simply not being #KathleenWynne. And sadly, enough people in this province hated the thoughtโฆ
2/
โฆof being governed by a lesbian woman that they bought into it.
Remember when the most memorable plank in that platform was โBuck-a-Beerโ?
But supporters will point to windmills and spending as excuses for why Ford trumps Wynne (see what I did there?) .
And yetโฆ
3/
โฆthose same supporters are just fine turning a blind eye to Fordโs own corruption.
The grift started early on.
Remember the crony appointments given to Ron Taverner and Rueben Devlin? How about Jenni Byrne and Dean French?
It would appear thatโฆ
4/
โฆthe Doug Ford Gravy Train was picking up steam real quick.
Remember the sweet deals for vid gaming and horse racing, all while Ford gutted basic income, autism resources, and youth mental health?
Remember how Ford cancelled Green Energy initiativesโฆ
5/
โฆonly to backtrack now as an election draws near?
Similar slashing in healthcare has prompted Ford to offer election season bribes to nurses in an effort to encouraging them to stay in Ontario.
Fordโs education plans have involved nothing more than cuts and theโฆ
6/
โฆtypical union busting and teacher vilification reminiscent of the Harris days.
Ontario fared no better as COVID hit. The past two years in this province have been visibly marred by Fordโs mismanagement. LTC homes have been ravaged by incompetence and outright neglect.
7/
We watched seniors fall ill and die as the FordNation fiddled.
Even as a pandemic raged, there was opportunity for griftโฆa massive salary for Rick Hillier in exchange for offloading those duties onto local health units.
Affordable housing? Fordโs solutionโฆ
8/
โฆis to simply make it easier for his developer buddies to build more houses. Whether sensitive environments are sacrificed remains to be seen.
Speaking of developersโฆa look at land ownership along the Hwy 413 corridor will quickly tell you who stands to benefit most.
9/
More recently, there are two very noteworthy things:
a) Fordโs silence on the โFreedom Convoyโ
(he was all too happy to lay responsibility at Trudeausโs doorstep, even though many of the mandates were provincial jurisdictionโฆ)
10/
b) Fordโs lifting of the mask mandates -
(something that clearly indicates his willingness to sacrifice the vulnerable in order to pander to his base)
โฆand we havenโt even touched on gas pump stickers, licence plates, daughter Krista, etc.
But come Juneโฆone thing is crystal clear: there are much better alternativesโฆones that will undoubtedly serve the province well, despite any flaws they may have.
Yesterday, I tweeted about a joke / prank that I played on my Gr. 10 history class. Based on some responses I got, I feel the need to clarify a few things, lest some misconceptions fester into fact.
Read on.
1/
It was unit โtestโ dayโฆ
Topic: Canada and WWI.
The โprankโ involved making them think that they were going to write an essay in response to post-grad type history questions.
(See pics.)
The first pic popped up for approx 15 seconds. Then I flashed the second pic.
2/
The majority of last nightโs respondents could see this for exactly what it was: a practical joke played on a group of teensโฆin order to have some fun, and bring some levity into a setting that has already been rife with isolation and anxiety for many months.
3/
Iโm absolutely gobsmacked by what Iโve been seeing and hearingโฆespecially these last few weeks. People who I would normally consider sane, educated, stable, well-informed, community minded, are now peddling blatant disinformation.
1/
Many of them, and those that defend them, are passing it off as harmless โdifferences of opinionโ.
Really?
If so, Iโm missing something.
I just recently read a report that COVID patients are pulling vital resources away from paediatric patients, patients withโฆ
2/
โฆheart conditions, patients who need certain surgeries, etc. According to that report, most if not all of the COVID patients were/are unvaxxed.
Widely accepted research indicates that these hospitalizations were avoidable.
Iโm sorry, but โdifference of opinionโ doesnโtโฆ
3/
Slimy, greasy strategy by a slimy, greasy politician. But are we really that surprised? From the moment this chump entered the political ring, didnโt we foresee stuff like this?
This guy on the basis of being the โanti-Wynneโโฆand to a large extentโฆ
โฆit was successful. There was lots of talk about gravy trains and ending the party with tax payer money. But youโd have be pretty naive and / or willfully ignorant to not see the cronyism and the grift.
Hwy 413 is a prime example. Look who stands to benefit.
2/
Ford buddies Ron Taverner and Dean Frenchโฆmore examples of the grift. And the list goes on.

- Taylor Shields
- Tyler Albrecht
- Gavin Tighe
- Cam Montgomery
- Jenni Byrne
- Ian Todd
- Rueben Devlin
- Charles McVety
โฆ.to name but a few.
It was kinda funny when Doug Ford showed up hawking cheap beer. Kinda. But it stopped being funny a long time ago.
Fast forward to 2021.
We now have a massive pile (words purposely chosen) ofโฆ
/1
โฆfailures, hostility, disinformation, and outright attacks on the very things that many hold dear in this province: healthcare, education, care of our elderly, key elements of our social safety net, and the environment to name but a fewโฆ
/2
โฆand much / all of it has been in the interest of privatization, corporate greed, cronyism, self-service, self-promotion, ego and pure profit.
In addition, this government has sowed division and hate. Racists have been subtly, and not so subtly, nudged into action.
