A Sunday Morning Doug Ford ๐Ÿงต

It starts with simple questions:

WTF?
How is Doug Ford still a thing?
How is he polling in the high 30s?
Do people not see the in-your-face corruption?

How is anyone in this province even remotely enamouredโ€ฆ

1/
โ€ฆwith a barely educated, barely literate, former strip mall hash dealer with a penchant for folksy populism, and blatant grift?

The man got elected on a platform of simply not being #KathleenWynne. And sadly, enough people in this province hated the thoughtโ€ฆ

2/
โ€ฆof being governed by a lesbian woman that they bought into it.

Remember when the most memorable plank in that platform was โ€˜Buck-a-Beerโ€™?

But supporters will point to windmills and spending as excuses for why Ford trumps Wynne (see what I did there?) .

And yetโ€ฆ

3/
โ€ฆthose same supporters are just fine turning a blind eye to Fordโ€™s own corruption.

The grift started early on.

Remember the crony appointments given to Ron Taverner and Rueben Devlin? How about Jenni Byrne and Dean French?

It would appear thatโ€ฆ

4/
โ€ฆthe Doug Ford Gravy Train was picking up steam real quick.

Remember the sweet deals for vid gaming and horse racing, all while Ford gutted basic income, autism resources, and youth mental health?

Remember how Ford cancelled Green Energy initiativesโ€ฆ

5/
โ€ฆonly to backtrack now as an election draws near?

Similar slashing in healthcare has prompted Ford to offer election season bribes to nurses in an effort to encouraging them to stay in Ontario.

Fordโ€™s education plans have involved nothing more than cuts and theโ€ฆ

6/
โ€ฆtypical union busting and teacher vilification reminiscent of the Harris days.

Ontario fared no better as COVID hit. The past two years in this province have been visibly marred by Fordโ€™s mismanagement. LTC homes have been ravaged by incompetence and outright neglect.

7/
We watched seniors fall ill and die as the FordNation fiddled.

Even as a pandemic raged, there was opportunity for griftโ€ฆa massive salary for Rick Hillier in exchange for offloading those duties onto local health units.

Affordable housing? Fordโ€™s solutionโ€ฆ

8/
โ€ฆis to simply make it easier for his developer buddies to build more houses. Whether sensitive environments are sacrificed remains to be seen.

Speaking of developersโ€ฆa look at land ownership along the Hwy 413 corridor will quickly tell you who stands to benefit most.

9/
More recently, there are two very noteworthy things:

a) Fordโ€™s silence on the โ€œFreedom Convoyโ€

(he was all too happy to lay responsibility at Trudeausโ€™s doorstep, even though many of the mandates were provincial jurisdictionโ€ฆ)

10/
b) Fordโ€™s lifting of the mask mandates -

(something that clearly indicates his willingness to sacrifice the vulnerable in order to pander to his base)

โ€ฆand we havenโ€™t even touched on gas pump stickers, licence plates, daughter Krista, etc.

The list is extensive.

11/
A LIST:

12/
But come Juneโ€ฆone thing is crystal clear: there are much better alternativesโ€ฆones that will undoubtedly serve the province well, despite any flaws they may have.

It canโ€™t be any worse.
Thatโ€™s a fact.

June, 2022.
You know what to do.
Spread the word.

Yesterday, I tweeted about How Iโ€™d hold @fordnation responsible if my parents got COVID.

This is still my position.

My mom has debilitating osteoporosis, as well as a series of other ailments. My dad is battling multiple myeloma, and is in desperate needโ€ฆ

1/
โ€ฆof a hip replacement - worn out by years of work in a shitty factory where fat cats got rich by exploiting his labour.

Theyโ€™re vaxxed. They donโ€™t go out much. And when they do, they wear masks.

They depend on me a lot, for transportation, for groceriesโ€ฆ

2/
โ€ฆfor medical appointments, etc. Iโ€™ve done my best to keep them as safe as possible. Itโ€™s been pretty successful thus far.

I received a lot of support for my sentiment. But my tweet also brought out a lot of dipshits.

I received many responses spanning a wide rangeโ€ฆ

An education ๐Ÿงตโ€ฆ

Yesterday, I tweeted about a joke / prank that I played on my Gr. 10 history class. Based on some responses I got, I feel the need to clarify a few things, lest some misconceptions fester into fact.

Read on.

1/
It was unit โ€˜testโ€™ dayโ€ฆ
Topic: Canada and WWI.
The โ€œprankโ€ involved making them think that they were going to write an essay in response to post-grad type history questions.

(See pics.)

The first pic popped up for approx 15 seconds. Then I flashed the second pic.

2/
The majority of last nightโ€™s respondents could see this for exactly what it was: a practical joke played on a group of teensโ€ฆin order to have some fun, and bring some levity into a setting that has already been rife with isolation and anxiety for many months.

A rant/thread.
Bear with meโ€ฆplease.

Iโ€™m absolutely gobsmacked by what Iโ€™ve been seeing and hearingโ€ฆespecially these last few weeks. People who I would normally consider sane, educated, stable, well-informed, community minded, are now peddling blatant disinformation.

1/
Many of them, and those that defend them, are passing it off as harmless โ€˜differences of opinionโ€™.

Really?
If so, Iโ€™m missing something.

I just recently read a report that COVID patients are pulling vital resources away from paediatric patients, patients withโ€ฆ

2/
โ€ฆheart conditions, patients who need certain surgeries, etc. According to that report, most if not all of the COVID patients were/are unvaxxed.
Widely accepted research indicates that these hospitalizations were avoidable.

Iโ€™m sorry, but โ€˜difference of opinionโ€™ doesnโ€™tโ€ฆ

Slimy, greasy strategy by a slimy, greasy politician. But are we really that surprised? From the moment this chump entered the political ring, didnโ€™t we foresee stuff like this?

This guy on the basis of being the โ€˜anti-Wynneโ€™โ€ฆand to a large extentโ€ฆ

#onpoli

1/
โ€ฆit was successful. There was lots of talk about gravy trains and ending the party with tax payer money. But youโ€™d have be pretty naive and / or willfully ignorant to not see the cronyism and the grift.

Hwy 413 is a prime example. Look who stands to benefit.

2/
Ford buddies Ron Taverner and Dean Frenchโ€ฆmore examples of the grift. And the list goes on.
- Katherine Pal
- Taylor Shields
- Tyler Albrecht
- Gavin Tighe
- Cam Montgomery
- Jenni Byrne
- Ian Todd
- Rueben Devlin
- Charles McVety
โ€ฆ.to name but a few.

This is an open message to:
@AndreaHorwath

@MikeSchreiner

It was kinda funny when Doug Ford showed up hawking cheap beer. Kinda. But it stopped being funny a long time ago.

Fast forward to 2021.
We now have a massive pile (words purposely chosen) ofโ€ฆ

/1
โ€ฆfailures, hostility, disinformation, and outright attacks on the very things that many hold dear in this province: healthcare, education, care of our elderly, key elements of our social safety net, and the environment to name but a fewโ€ฆ

/2
โ€ฆand much / all of it has been in the interest of privatization, corporate greed, cronyism, self-service, self-promotion, ego and pure profit.

In addition, this government has sowed division and hate. Racists have been subtly, and not so subtly, nudged into action.

Someone sent me this. Iโ€™m very touched by it. And that person knows how much I appreciate it. So Iโ€™m following their lead by paying it forward.

If I didnโ€™t mention you specifically, itโ€™s nothing personal. Rather, I hope itโ€™ll eventually reach others via the same process. Image
