🚨 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 🚨 “We are really scared.”

A man who works around 27th & Valdez in Oakland told me he saw 3 men jump out of a car around 4pm today.

Witnesses & sources tell me the men were armed. The Asian victim was assaulted & his LV backpack stolen. (1/4)

You can hear the victim yell “please!” multiple times as a nearby car honks.

2 dif ppl took these videos & requested anonymity but gave me permission to post them to raise awareness.

The victim runs after the getaway car in an attempt to stop the suspects. (2/4) #oakland

OPD arrived on scene a short time later & are investigating.

People who work in the area tell me they see car break-ins and other crimes here constantly/daily. This is an area w/shops & businesses & plenty of housing.

A camera shop was targeted in a robbery Mon around 4pm.

3 people enter, 1 uses a hammer to smash a glass case.

A store employee approaches, gets pepper sprayed (1/4)

Employees of a neighboring biz attempt to fight off the suspects using a stool & sign.

One is also hit with pepper spray while another hit with a hammer.

My photojournalist colleague who was there shortly after says the getaway vehicle was on Clay Street. (2/4)#StopAAPIHate

Those nearby say police were on the scene quickly & searched extensively but the suspects had already left.

A man who asked to be ID’d only as Kevin told me he was fed up watching a shoplifter in action at a Walgreens in Alameda 3/19.

He tackled the suspect…(1/4)

Kevin yells for bystanders to call 9-1-1 as he struggles on the ground with the man for more than 2 mins.

The suspect calls out to a friend over and over & suddenly a car pulls up and a man approaches the store.

Kevin gets put in a headlock & that’s when he…(2/4) #BayArea

“picked him up by the groin & threw him to the ground.”

Kevin loses his shoes in the struggle & both suspects run to the getaway car nearby.

Alameda Police say intervening opens you up to litigation & poss charges if the suspect is arrested. They don’t recommend jumping in

A bloodied man in a hospital gown broke into Jen’s Cole Valley home early Saturday morning.

He went on a rampage inside smashing furniture.

“The next thing he did was hurl this radiator through my bedroom window & jumped out.”

It was a 3rd story window. (1/4) #SanFrancisco

After the suspect hurled himself out the 3rd story window (rear end first) neighbors came out to see what happened.

1 found a severed finger in the garden.

SFPD arrested 41-y/o Russell Long of Redding. He was booked for burglary, false imprisonment & more (2/4) #SanFrancisco

Jen’s neighbors say there have been other incidents inv. people breaking in wearing hospital gowns or wristbands.

“This exposes a greater problem. The mental health homeless problem in SF is real.” Says Jen.

PD & a nearby hospital couldn’t say where suspect came from. (3/4)

𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘆: I spoke to this 70-year old Chinese woman tonight. She was robbed of her purse Saturday around 7:30pm.

This happened in the parking lot of a senior living facility in Oakland. (1/4) #StopAAPIHate #StopAsianHate

The suspect approaches her, grabs her purse, whips her around & wrestles w/her on the ground.

The victim told me in Mandarin she thinks she was targeted because she's Asian & is afraid to go out after learning about crimes in Chinatown & other areas. #StopAsianHate (2/4)

Her hands scraped the pavement but otherwise she is not too physically hurt.

She had no Chas but lost her credit cards. The Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council is providing translation for to her since she needs assistance getting those cards replaced. (3/4) #StopAAPIHate

Here is a small sample of videos people from around the Bay Area send me.

1. This is a car break-in from around 8:30 last night at the 99 Ranch in Cupertino. A man captured this break-in on his Tesla’s camera. He had nothing in the car trunk. (1/4) #BayArea

2. A woman in Pacific Heights was fed up w/all of the crime/thefts at her home/neighborhood so she installed a Ring camera.

This is who she found Sunday, taking items from her property. You can get the woman say “Give all of that stuff back. Go.” (2/4) #SanFrancisco

The woman was also seen doing this on Elizabeth’s property. (It was a video but obviously too graphic to share…so I made it into a still and put a censor on it. You get the idea.)

Elizabeth also says a bag was stolen from her porch several days earlier. #SanFrancisco (3/4)
