A Palm Sunday equine thread: The imagery I hear from many voices in the #ChristianNationalist camp is about Jesus’ second coming, mounted on a war horse, ruling with an iron scepter. This, they say, is the future of the church and we should live into it.
On Palm Sunday, we celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. These two different mounts present a choice for us.
Yes, I understand that the crowd scattering palm branches meant the scene to be a coronation. But the irony is that Jesus turned the coronation into a perp walk.
We have to decide which mounted Jesus we want to imitate: the one on a donkey that leads to a cross, or the one on a war horse that leads to Armageddon.
There is only one right answer.
