Over the past 12 months I have shifted the focus of my advocacy from Brexit to railways in the EU

I’ve built @TrainsForEurope and made some progress demanding the EU sorts out the absence of night trains in Europe

But there are 2 problems
1️⃣ Few people know about the problems of #CrossBorderRail in Europe - there’s little public debate about this
2️⃣ All my railway advocacy has been completely unpaid until now, and I can’t keep doing all of this just in my free time

So the #CrossBorderRail project is going to be crowd-funded. That’s where you can help

I need just over €4000 to make this project a reality, and ideally about €7000

The idea is in 40 trip days, starting 13 June, I will cross every border in the EU you can cross by train

Where trains don’t run any more I will cross the border by bike

And on this trip tell all the stories from the ground

I’ll be tweeting, posting and meeting people as I go

In some places tracks have fallen into disrepair

In other tracks exist, but passenger trains don’t run

In other there are trains, but the timetables are poor or not coordinated

Elsewhere finding information about what happens the other side of the border is hell

I’m motivated by what @WiebeWkkr did with his no flight trip to Dubai, and @politic_animal with #Train24

And Europe - faced with the twin need to decarbonise *and* reduce its dependence on Russian oil - needs its railways to work better
