THREAD on #Wolkait:

Wolkait is a redline for Ethiopia. A tri-junction for ETH, ERI & SUD. Allowing Wolkait to fall in the hands of a traitor like the TPLF threatens the very existence of ETH as a sovereign nation given its significant geopolitical & National Sec implics.
It will provide the TPLF access to international border & sea port (through Sudan) emboldening them to proclaim the Tigre region a defacto/independent state - w/c will obviously undermine the territorial integrity & sovereignty of Ethiopia.
Might also enable ETH's historical rivals like Egypt or TPLF's loyal Western allies to solidify a military presence in Tigray w/ TPLF's blessing as a security guarantee for themselves, just like how former Soviet territories allow NATO in, to "protect" themselves from Russia.
But one thing is for sure, it will lead the country in to a devastating civil war. A never ending cycle of violence. Gov't will lose legitimacy as the public continue to lose trust on the leadership & continue to reject/threaten the govt's monopoly on power.
For these & many other reasons, TPLF reannexing Wolkait should be averted by at any cost! Its an existential threat to ETH, w/ irreparable sociopolitical/security costs. A grave national security threat that could shake the nation to its core & cost us for generations to come!

Welkait is a redline for Ethiopia. A tri-junction for ETH, ERI & SUD. Even the thought, let alone the action, of allowing Welkait to fall in the hands of TPLF threatens the very existence of Ethiopia as a sovereign nation given its significant geopolitical & National Sec implics.
It will provide the TPLF access to international border & sea port (through Sudan) emboldening them to self proclaim a defacto/independent statehood - undermining the territorial integrity & sovereignty of Ethiopia.
Might also enable ETH's historical enemies like Egypt/TPLF's loyal Western allies to solidify a military presence in Tigray w/ TPLF's blessing as a security guarantee for themselves, just like how former Soviet territories allow NATO in, to "protect" themselves from Russia.

THREAD

Whether the GoE's decision to terminate high-profile court proceedings at this point is justified or not (for whatever reason), the least the govt could/should have done was... (1/5)
1. Wait for the election of the National Dialogue Commission Commissioners & official request by them re release of such prisoners so to be included in the dialogue.

2. Officially consult the matter w/ or in the @FDREHOPR as TPLF/OLA are designated terrorist orgs. 2/5
2. Public consultation w/ the victims/survivors or rep'ves of areas that suffered the most (if possible) or atleast leak the info & evaluate public opinion in advance.

3. Choose the timing carefully, follow the right legal procedure & strategically communicate w/ the public. 3/5

A TPLF official once said Meles Zenawi's biggest mistake was releasing the leaders of ቅንጅት as a gesture of "peace & reconciliation" for the ETH millennium, as that shifted the dynamics of anti-woyane resistence once & for all.
The release & further exile of Prof Birhanu & co. paved the way for the launch of an official armed resistance through the formation of G7. It further enabled the GoERI to play a direct & significant role in the ever evolving anti-woyane movts in ETH & abroad.
Eritrea's positive contribution in the anti-woyane struggle helped restore the faith of the Ethiopian people on the govt of Eritrea w/c finally led to the reset of Ethio-Eritrea r/nship & an official peace deal signed by PM @AbiyAhmedAli & PIA. An absolute nightmare for the TPLF!

A well articulated intellectual analysis of TPLF's current #WarOnEthiopia by the one & only Professor Messay Kebede: A Must Read THREAD! 1/9
Rather than conceding defeat or withdrawing to defensive lines inside Tigray, it seems that the TPLF, despite numerous setbacks, has decided to stick to its offensive strategy and fight the war to the last man, driven as it is by the motto: rule Ethiopia or perish. 2/9
Not only does it pour thousands of ill-prepared troops of all ages, including children, into the war fronts, but it is also doing everything to anger, unite, and mobilize against the Amhara and Afar peoples. Just as Germany under Nazi regime did not surrender until it was...3/9

Back to the 80's. 👇 is not a cry of concern. More of an attempt to ensure #Ethiopia's image remain interwined w/ famine & hunger. A propaganda strategy of the 80's that significantly shifted Western's foreign policy approach on🇪🇹, from equal partnership to foreign aid diplomacy.
Please read the 👇 article & ofcourse Suzan Frank's book "Reporting Disasters: Famine, Aid, Politics & the Media". Ms Frank is a former BBC journalist, a professor of journalism at City University, London, and author. Reported Ethiopia's famine (80's).

Ethiopia, before and under HRH HaileSelassie, had a history of significant position in global & regional politics. A history of providing foreign aid /esp. food & military/ to other nations, inc the west.
