For every client, I make a video shoot in the first month that is structured by BLOCKS.
It saves so much time long-term and I think this thread will help you
Let's dive in👇
Step 1:
You need to do your research and creative strategy. I shared this info a lot but to sum up I do it like this:
👉My own content questionnaire [client fills it]
👉I look at the website, FB ads manager, Tiktok ads manager where I find some creative patterns
[read more]👇
👉Reddit, Amazon reviews, competitors...
I go deep. I want to know the brand/offer/audience inside out
Then I create blocks👇
Step 2:
This is my BIG video shoot where I plan my video shoot in blocks. Every few seconds of the video is its own block.
Here is a list of blocks:
👉Hooks [weird shit, benefit-driven, problem-focused, persona situations...]
👉Pain points/problems
👉Product intro - there are several ways to do this
👉Features
👉Benefits
👉Bad alternative - big one
👉"How to"
👉Objections
👉Reactions
👉Dream scenario/results
[there is more]👇
👉Case study
👉Can you prove it?
👉unboxing
👉unique details
👉weird visuals connected to the product/benefit/problem
For every block, I try to make 3-5 clips. Imagine how many assets I have for video editing 🤯
Then...AGC😎🤓
Step 3:
AGC aka UGC. I only work with actors that is why I call it "actor generated content".
I give them scripts, hook instructions, and b-roll instructions.
My pool of creators has old people, young demos...you name it..whatever you need.
Then I do this...
I combine AGC with my "block" video shoot.
Then it's all about editing. Storyboarding. Creative analysis and iteration.
In month no2 I usually make another video shoot that is just for hooks and AGC.
Last week I did a video shoot with 30 hooks only🎥
To sum up👇
Video shooting can be time-consuming. That is why I prep in advance.
So that I have ammunition in the post-production and iteration phase.
I hope this helped and please share with others so they can also save time😎
Talk about the same angle to the same person but at a different stage of their life.
Here we have some examples👇
Let's say we sell a cold massage roller:
Suzy 22:
She is a very pro athlete. She trains hard and takes care of her diet. She likes creatives with nice visuals and cares less about education. She likes images of pro athletes with a product.
...10 years later👇
Suzy 33:
She thinks she is still very young but her body disagrees with some injuries. She needs to care for her body more now and she doesn't want to visit doctors for every reason. She wants to be educated a bit more about the product but still likes nice imagery.
This is an ongoing process every week, every month.
In this thread, I will give you a real-life example how I fight to make creatives work👇👇
1/5
I decided to test 4 creative styles with various angles:
👉Simple Unboxing
👉UGC Creator - Man with ADHD
👉UGC creator - Woman that wanted to be more productive
👉Explainer ad with some high-quality visuals of how the product looks like
Here is one example👇
2/5
👉Unboxing had good results
👉Man with ADHD had some good hooks
👉The unproductive woman had a good start but didn’t work well at scale
👉Explainer ad had bad results
So only 25% of creatives were good. But it gave me GREAT learnings.
This was one of the projects where I had to go "out of the box" a little bit.
It's not e-comm but it's an app. But it was fun😎
Here are the three videos. Every video has a different hook and let me explain the logic behind it👇
A short 🧵 so you get some inspiration 💪
Hook #1
👉Visual is different and very dynamic.
👉"in video" headline is benefit-driven
👉Then I transition to the "in-app" footage and a "reward" in the background (a medal)
Hook #2:
👉Visual is a quick unboxing of what you get once you complete the challenge (this is also historically the best hook in the ad account)
👉"in video" headline is kinda inspirational and makes people curious
👉Then I added some quick cuts of preparing for running
When I onboard a client I make my own brain dump 🧠💩
And I go deep!
Problem: It’s very time-consuming…
…but if you want to level up in 2022 this is a must.
You need to know the product, offer, and target audience inside out.
This is my flow👇
Very in-depth 🧵
1/8 I have my own content questionnaire where I get a lot of very interesting information very quickly.
Some of the questions:
What is your elevator pitch?
Your target personas? Their pain points, desires.
Primary/secondary problems.
How do they FEEL about these pain points?
2/8 Then I go through their website and internet research
👉Homepage
👉Product page
👉Our story page (very important so you can understand the brand even more)
👉Amazon reviews of the product or competitor
👉Reddit analysis of the deep pain points
