By achieving #SDG6, we amplify, exponentially, our ability to achieve so much more than the #humanrights to water and sanitation.
We enhance our chances of eliminating inequalities, supporting healthier lives, achieving gender equality – and combatting climate change.

Achieving #SDG6 is a golden opportunity that needs to be seized,to make it all possible.
The fact that this agenda is not yet receiving the prioritization it demands, is troubling. Especially as we’re talking about a fundamental human rights. Legal obligations. @JapanGov

Our task, as a society, is to generate that magic ingredient for success – political will.
Experience shows us that generating greater political will improves governance and efficiency, and leads to greater financial flows which are critical to success. #APWS@JapanGov

With strong leadership comes three things vital to our success:
✅ Cooperation - though governments are accountable for delivering on the #SDGs, we need a partnership approach - the private sector, academia, civil society and others around the same table for policies and strategies to be stronger and more responsive to reality. #APWS
(7/10)
✅ Coherence – Achieving water and sanitation for all is about working with all sectors - health, nutrition, education, climate, and others.
National budgets and policies must make these interlinkages.
(8/10)
✅ Courage – Water and sanitation MUST be urgently moved up the agenda.
Sanitation in particular is not the most popular topic capturing political attention. But leaders with courage will know that without assuring these basic services, the SDG agenda is put at risk.#APWS

@sanwatforall is determined to chart a better path forward.
In May, 80+ ministers from different sectors will participate in our #2022SMM, to discuss water and sanitation and the triple crisis - health, climate and the economy, and commit to building forward better.

2020 could have been different, if access to water and sanitation for all was a reality.
We cannot be here in a decade’s time, saying that 2030 could have been different too.
