Wind and icing throughout the province has led to many outages and poor road conditions. Below is just one example of equipment damage due to the #mbstorm causing an #mboutage. (1/?)
We’re working as quickly and safely as possible under the circumstances. Crews have to use the same roads as everyone else, so any shutdowns or unsafe driving conditions will cause delays to our outage response. In many cases we won’t be able to offer restoration times. (2/?)
We appreciate your patience and understanding. Call 911 if you see a downed line and stay at least 10m away from it. Report your outages on our website because it goes directly to dispatch. Here’s what you need to know about prolonged outages: hydro.mb.ca/outages/power_… (3/?)
Stay safe, stay warm, and we appreciate your patience. And if you happen to hear from Mother Nature sometime today, tell her we said a nice sunny spring would be pretty cool right now (4/4)

#mboutage#mbstorm update 🧵: crews have restored about 670 total outages affecting over 9,350 customers, but some still remain off. (1/7)
Morden area: we still need to melt ice off three sections of line. A few scattered outages that should be wrapped up by now (let us know at hydro.mb.ca/outages if you're still out). A crew is standing by tonight just in case. (2/7)
Killarney area: all restored as of late this afternoon. Spare crews will be diverted to Dauphin tomorrow morning. (3/7)
#mboutage#mbstorm 🧵 Here’s some updated estimated timelines for areas that were clobbered by the weekend’s storm. (1/7)
In the Morden area, staff are dealing with icing west of Morden and high water levels east of Morden. We have three ice melts on our lines planned today. Full restoration is expected by 8 p.m. today. (2/7)
Crews in Brandon and Portage areas have cleaned up all outages and were sent to help in Morden, Killarney and Dauphin areas. (3/7)
#mboutage#mbstorm As of first light today - and with calmer winds- crews are back on the road dealing with the mayhem left by the weekend’s storm. (🧵1/?)
#mboutage The hit to our transmission system by wind and ice - causing galloping power lines - is over. Our task now is dealing numerous broken wood poles. hydro.mb.ca/safety/gallopi…
#mboutage (3/?) The worst damage is in the south-west up to the Parkland through to the Interlake. We’ve got dozens of wood poles down or broken that need to be replaced to get power back on.
Alright BUCKLE UP because here come a ton of #mboutage#mbstorm updates.
1/?
In the Morden area, crews have melted ice off one stretch of power lines and are working on another stretch. A third will be completed tomorrow. Four poles were broken and should be replaced tonight. About 150 customers will be out until tomorrow.
2/?
In the Killarney area there were 10 broken poles. Crews repaired 6. Between 20 and 30 customers will stay out for the night — we expect to complete all work by the end of the day tomorrow if conditions are favourable. 3/?
Update on #mboutage#mbstorm: There are 1,005 active outages affecting about 15,000 customers in Parkland West and South Central MB. There are numerous broken poles — we estimate about 100 in the Dauphin area alone. 1/?
Brandon, Selkirk, and Winnipeg construction crews are on the way to help, but poor road conditions and closures will hamper their ability to get to the places they need to go. 2/?
As before, crews are doing the best they can, but we don't expect all customers will be restored today. Some customers in Virden, Morden, Killarney, and Neepawa areas will likely stay out until at least tomorrow. 3/?
Weather conditions in the west of the province are deteriorating and we may start seeing more outages. We’ve opened an Emergency Operations Centre in Brandon to coordinate our response. Here’s how to be prepared: hydro.mb.ca/outages/power_…#mboutage
If you’re out, please let us know online at hydro.mb.ca/outages. We appreciate your patience.
Weather in the Parkland and South Central regions of Manitoba is brutal. See pictures. This makes travel and restoration very difficult. Crews are doing their best to restore as many people as possible, but it’s possible several areas may have outages until tomorrow morning.
