1/? In the Morden area, crews have melted ice off one stretch of power lines and are working on another stretch. A third will be completed tomorrow. Four poles were broken and should be replaced tonight. About 150 customers will be out until tomorrow.

Update on #mboutage #mbstorm: There are 1,005 active outages affecting about 15,000 customers in Parkland West and South Central MB. There are numerous broken poles — we estimate about 100 in the Dauphin area alone. 1/? Brandon, Selkirk, and Winnipeg construction crews are on the way to help, but poor road conditions and closures will hamper their ability to get to the places they need to go. 2/?

Wind and icing throughout the province has led to many outages and poor road conditions. Below is just one example of equipment damage due to the #mbstorm causing an #mboutage. (1/?) Image We’re working as quickly and safely as possible under the circumstances. Crews have to use the same roads as everyone else, so any shutdowns or unsafe driving conditions will cause delays to our outage response. In many cases we won’t be able to offer restoration times. A thread about wood poles: We replaced about 4,000 wood poles in the October snow storm. Now we’re entering each of these new poles in our pole inventory. See ➡️ portageonline.com/local/hydro-wo… for how we do it. The majority of our poles are red pine, lodgepole pine and western red cedar. Most of our longer poles are western red cedar from British Columbia.
