🌳 For #DNADay, we're sharing images of a clone of the Tree of Hippocrates, the original of which can be found on the island of Cos, Greece. Legend holds that Hippocrates, regarded as the father of modern medicine, taught under the shade of that island tree. @genome_gov 
In 1961, the Greek government, through the @GreeceInUSA ambassador, presented a Tree of Hippocrates sapling to NLM. The sapling was planted next to the new building in May 1962, thriving for more than 50 years. @historyatnih
