Right, I have no particular wish to spend lots of my time in Musk-land: I'm not going to shut right down here, but I do want to reduce my activity & would really like to find more ways to connect with folks elsewhere.
If you want to Twitter less, #Mastodon is good, and I'm happy to talk folk through picking a server and getting set up and the differences between Masto and Twitter (they're both microblogging focused so quite similar). I'm at @JubalBarca@Scholar.Social there!
I can particularly recommend that fellow academics (hi, #MedievalTwitter, #Archaeogaming, etc) get presences set up on scholar.social, it's a good Mastodon instance focused on academia (loosely defined) and it'd be really great to have more of our conversations on there.
Also in terms of non-Twitter spaces, if you're a mutual and would like to have contact via Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp, Insta/FB, Email etc, please do DM and get in touch! I can't promise to be good at replying to all those things all the time, but I do my best to.
And finally, do check out exilian.co.uk/forum/ for the space I'm actually in most online: there's a lot to be said for the topic-organised, less frenetic style that webforums offer, and Exilian is well moderated, democratically community run, and caters to many interests :)
And like with Masto, very happy to help people get set up on Exilian if you'd like to dip your toes into that community and see how it suits you. If you're on Discord, there's also a small Exilian outpost there (discord.gg/WavqZnJX) where we share news/events.

A separate issue to the one that's getting a the discourse among the medieval bits of my timeline, but related: generally, bigger name scholars jumping way out their wheelhouse to do public-facing work in areas there are specialists in creates issues we should think about more.
And I do get that people may e.g. have books to sell, and becoming a go-to Medievalist for talking abt everything from games to modern resonances gives you more plug points. But even (especially) if you're not going to pass opportunities down the line, you have responsibilities.
What might that look like? Firstly, just using basic timeline reach etc to mention folk doing direct scholarship & organisation in these areas! Encourage people to read more and go to relevant events! You don't even need to sacrifice your precious public facing spots to do that.
