"It's important to set context and expectations," says Bell. "We see a lot of conflict online over this event, much of it from people and groups behind keyboards far away who want to drive social discord. I absolutely do not want to see this conflict on our streets." #OttNews
Bell says organizers tell police 500 motorcycles expected. Many to stay in downtown hotels. Also, an event expected in a rural area near Eagleson Road, Bells says. And, a church in Vanier is known to be frequented by these groups, Bell adds. #OttCity
Downtown councillors McKenney and Fleury are both most concerned for their own residents who they say are still traumatized by the truck convoy a couple of months ago. #OttCity

Yesterday, councillors McKenney (who's long had concerns cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…) and Meehan (downstream) wrote to the #OttCity AG and Ontario ombudsman asking them to investigate:
Coun. Moffatt, who's been on the RVCA board for a decade said they shouldn't "malign" the conservation authority and suggest wrong-doing if they can't prove wrong-doing exists.
It was hard to hear the dissents on the rezoning for Caivan Conservancy (east side of Borrisokane Road), which passed. I heard McKenney, Deans, Meehan, Kavanagh. #OttCity#Barrhaven
A long motion of whereases from #Kanata North Coun. Curry, seconded by Watson, about ClubLink's plan to redevelop the Kanata Golf and Country Club.
They want the provincial government to stop it, now, as Ford govt did for the Glen Abbey course in Oakville.
Leiper notes Kanata golf club is not Glen Abbey. He wonders if it will be a case of "careful what you ask for". Ford gov't wants to build more housing.
Watson: Fullerton has in past asked for a motion like this. He and Curry want to get it in before writ is issued. #OttCity

We did not hear back directly from Mr. Torigian today, but did try to learn more about him, given his hiring caused such debate last night. He had been chief of the Waterloo Region until 2014. cbc.ca/news/canada/ki…
We'd seen he was named in an affidavit (for passing women over for promotions) in a broader proposed class action lawsuit related to gender-based harassment. That class action never ended up being certified by the courts. cbc.ca/news/canada/ki…
