This campaign is about valuing the dignity of all people. I am proud of my relationship with Cleveland's Jewish community, both as a City Councilwoman and State Senator.

I stand with the Jewish community and all the people of Greater Cleveland—yesterday, today and always.
But don’t take it from me, take it from members of the Jewish community in Greater Cleveland who know me: clevelandjewishnews.com/opinion/letter…

The average American is more likely to become homeless than become a billionaire. The best indicator of someone’s probability of becoming wealthy is if they come from wealth.

Billionaires are a product of a system that is rigged to favor the wealthy and well-connected.
Want proof? The three richest men in America are:

@elonmusk: net worth $219B
@JeffBezos: net worth $171B
@BillGates: net worth $129B
Elon Musk’s father owned multiple mines in Africa. He comes from generational wealth, affording him opportunities financially and socially that most people don’t have.

Thank you @eyejcleveland for having me yesterday at Case Western Reserve University for a discussion on broadband connectivity in Greater Cleveland.

In Cuyahoga County, 25 percent of residents don’t have access to the internet or a computer. Nina Turner standing with students from Case Western Univers
In Cleveland, 30 percent of residents don’t have internet or reliable high-speed service.

In 2017, an analysis conducted by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, found that AT&T “systematically discriminated against lower-income Cleveland neighborhoods in its deployment
of home internet and video technologies over the past decade.” Many of those lower-income neighborhoods are also predominantly Black.

1. We need to bring back the Child Tax Credit—@RashidaTlaib has a bill for that and it’ll be the first bill I co-sponsor in Congress.

2. Clevelanders need Medicare for All—I’ll fight for that by not taking money from the health insurance lobby.
3. We need to cancel student debt and make college and trade schools tuition-free—if children are living in poverty, their parents live in poverty. It’s time we give people better opportunities.
4. We must raise the federal minimum wage to *AT LEAST* $15/hr and not let the damn parliamentarian tell us we can’t help the people.

Senator @BernieSanders sparked a movement in this country that is stronger than ever. This movement continues to fight against the special interests who are blocking the President’s agenda and holding back progress for the poor, the working poor, and the barely middle class.
In order for this administration and our party to succeed, we need the everyday people of this country to succeed.  And that requires a leader who won’t hesitate because they take corporate money but instead a change-maker and a fighter.
Young people, working families, and seniors of greater Cleveland are demanding that their leaders not just vote the right way but fight for an agenda that will change their material conditions.

I’m running for Congress to be part of a bigger fight.

Question to Americans: “Do you trust the government to do the right thing most of the time?

1958: 73% said yes
2019: 17% said yes

When Congress doesn’t pass legislation 70%+ Americans support, people lose faith. It’s corruption. Big Business is paying off our officials.
Our politicians won’t pass climate legislation if Exxon donated to their campaign to get them elected.

They owe Exxon a favor.
Our politicians won’t pass legislation to make college free if student loan providers donated to their campaign to get them elected.

They owe those providers a favor.
