I’m running for Congress because for too long, cities like Cleveland have been sacrificed. We’re the poorest city with a population over 250,000.
I won Cleveland last year by 10 points and the poorest ward in the city by 9.5 points. I’m fighting to change these places.
The poorest areas of #OH11 are with me because they know I’m with them.
While my opponent takes money from billionaires who don’t give a damn about this city, who advocate against policies that would help the people of this city, I choose integrity.
I don’t take money from corporations that are hurting this community.
I don’t take money from industries that have destroyed the air and water of this community.
I’m fighting to fix the air and the water.
I’m fighting to fix that the life expectancy in Shaker Heights is 20 years higher than neighborhoods in Cleveland just 2 miles away.
I’m fighting to fix the lead situation in Cleveland—not touting that replacing the pipes is the answer, when it’s lead paint that’s the problem.
I’m fighting for the Starbucks workers at all four locations in Cleveland, not just taking a picture with them.
I’m fighting for the Sherwin Williams workers in Bedford Heights, not attending the ribbon cutting of the shiny new HQ in downtown Cleveland.
So greater Cleveland, tomorrow there’s a choice to be made. Do you want a seat at the table? Or do you want your seat to be given to a billionaire that doesn’t care about this region?
The choice is clear. You’ll have a seat at the table with Congresswoman Nina Turner.

This campaign is about valuing the dignity of all people. I am proud of my relationship with Cleveland's Jewish community, both as a City Councilwoman and State Senator.
I stand with the Jewish community and all the people of Greater Cleveland—yesterday, today and always.
The average American is more likely to become homeless than become a billionaire. The best indicator of someone’s probability of becoming wealthy is if they come from wealth.
Billionaires are a product of a system that is rigged to favor the wealthy and well-connected.
Elon Musk’s father owned multiple mines in Africa. He comes from generational wealth, affording him opportunities financially and socially that most people don’t have.
Thank you @eyejcleveland for having me yesterday at Case Western Reserve University for a discussion on broadband connectivity in Greater Cleveland.
In Cuyahoga County, 25 percent of residents don’t have access to the internet or a computer.
In Cleveland, 30 percent of residents don’t have internet or reliable high-speed service.
In 2017, an analysis conducted by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, found that AT&T “systematically discriminated against lower-income Cleveland neighborhoods in its deployment
of home internet and video technologies over the past decade.” Many of those lower-income neighborhoods are also predominantly Black.
3. We need to cancel student debt and make college and trade schools tuition-free—if children are living in poverty, their parents live in poverty. It’s time we give people better opportunities.
4. We must raise the federal minimum wage to *AT LEAST* $15/hr and not let the damn parliamentarian tell us we can’t help the people.
Senator @BernieSanders sparked a movement in this country that is stronger than ever. This movement continues to fight against the special interests who are blocking the President’s agenda and holding back progress for the poor, the working poor, and the barely middle class.
In order for this administration and our party to succeed, we need the everyday people of this country to succeed. And that requires a leader who won’t hesitate because they take corporate money but instead a change-maker and a fighter.
Young people, working families, and seniors of greater Cleveland are demanding that their leaders not just vote the right way but fight for an agenda that will change their material conditions.
I’m running for Congress to be part of a bigger fight.
