Ukrainian army released a tapped phone call between a Russian soldier and his mother. The soldier describes excited how he tortured and killed Ukrainians, and says he enjoys mutilating people. I have translated the calls in this #THREAD. Please be aware of extreme violence. /1
Son Konstanin: (It happed) in front of my eyes. I took part in this too. FSB officers tortured POWs. You know what little rose is?
Mother Tatyana: no
SK: you can grow 21 rose on a male's body. 20 fingers and 1 penis, sorry.
MT: ok
SK: have you seen a rose flower opening?
MT: yes
Son: (It is) the same. One cuts skin with flesh off, all the fingers. And later you do it there (on penis). This is what called 21 rose on a male's body. Do you know what other torture I have seen?
Mother: Why do you say you took part in this? There were FSB people torturing? /3
(cont) Son: Well, we captured POWs, we transported them...
Mother: Well
Son: And while we were waiting for the commanders of torture cells, we held POWs, we beat POWs severely, we broke them legs so they could not escape. /4
Son: So a POW seats, hip bones broken. I broke them. They are displaces. He says: "I don't care". But why are you afraid if you don't care? "I am not afraid!" And why are your crying? He shuts up. I love it so much, morally rape people, just with 2 words
Mom: You love?
S: Yes /5
Mom: I told you all the time, I try to control myself. If I were there (in Ukraine), I would enjoy it too. We are so alike, you and me.
Son: (A lot of emotional chaotic words, many slurs and bad language, describes his hate to Ukrainians)
Mom: Why do they try to resist? Don't they understand it is over?
Son: They get nothing
M: Because they are stoned?
S: We captured one civilian, the chief of torture chamber told. An old civilian, and he had all photos of our troops locations on his phone.
M: Such a scum, shit /7
Son: We were chilling around, and they brought us a POW, and he says: "They'll take 2 your lives for 1 mine". We were chilling around. And he says: "I don't care about death, I die for the right cause".
Mom: How?
S: He is shouting, and I say: "If you don't care, why so afraid?"/8
Son: We beat that old man to death, just with batons. To death. Can you imagine? How many times, how long it should take to kill a person just with a baton? It is normally used to discipline recruits. You beat a person and his organs explode. This is how FSB tortures here. /9
(cont) Son: There is another one type of torture, I have forgotten its name. A barrel? One puts a pipe into a person's anus, and puts a barbed wire through it.
Mom: Holy crap! /10
Son: It is crystal clear. I do not feel sorry at all. I have over 20 (killed), I am already calm.
Mom: They are not humans.
Son: I was a very kind person. Oh, how I want to tell you everything, so you will see how I have totally changed.
Mom: Bye-bye
Son: Bye-bye. /END

One need to say for those who were so shocked by the content, so the shock covered everything: it is a well-established state-organised system. It is not an "excess" of one or two sadists. It is organised by FSB secret police, like many torture camps before from Chechnya to Syria

I am absolutely not surprised by Lavrov‘s saying „Hitler was a Jew“. As I was leaving to Ukraine in June 2015, one Russian person told me: „How can you support them? They are all Nazis, and even their president is a Jew!“ They see no contradiction, as „Nazi“ is just a slur in RU.
Effectively, they call „Nazi“ everyone they don’t like. For example, one criticizes far-right aspects of Russia, demands more protection for minorities… and is marked as a Nazi! On another hand: they called Jews „fascists“ - here Russian ex-Vice-PM and now Roscosmos Head Rogozin
(BTW, this has an old tradition of combining anti-semitism with anti-ukrainianism, have a look at my older thread):

I see many are surprised by the crazy mix of Russian chauvinism, glorification of Soviet victory in WWII, militarized Orthodoxy, fuehrer-led state order etc. But those who truly studied Russia, can't be surprised. This is a picture "Russland Erwache" by Kremlin favorite Glazunov:
Note that back in 1994, Glazunov painted Russian tricolor flag as a symbol of satanic oppression by the West (a "Russia for sale" female demon is covered by a tricolor and oppressing Russian poor: elders and babies). All other elements are from the Putin's today's texbook.
The word "democracy" was a slur for Glazunov. Compare with his painting from 1999 "The Auction/Market of our Democracy", clearly demonising the West, which "sells and rapes" innocent vulnerable Russia and ethnic Russians.

Anastassija Magazowa, welche perfekt deutsch spricht? Oder Schriftsteller Serhij Zhadan?

"For Russia, tactical nukes are just a tool" - a great take by Ukrainian political scientist Mykhailo Samus and journalist Serhii Sydorenko. Indeed, what Western politicians see as horrible dictu and a taboo, Russians see as a tool. Same with genocide, war crimes or now - nukes.
One can't prevent Russia from using nukes by talks, or statements like "nukes usage is unthinkable, we strictly condemn it". Russia WILL use nukes as soon as it sees it gives Russia more advantage. The right answer is how to make clear, Russian costs will be higher than profits.
Don't forget: we deal with a regime which had carpet-bombed cities in its own country. Which had introduced system of organised rape in own prisons. Which killed dozens of opponents - including on President's birthday as a present. Which annexed territories of three neighbours...

I wonder sometimes if Western Left have ever read Marx, what he had written about Russia? Let me quote him a bit.
"There is only one way to deal with a power like Russia, and that is the fearless way."
(New York Tribune on the Crimean War, 7 April 1853)
"When the Russian forces first crossed the Pruth, the Tsar had no doubt – as we happened to know and took occasion to state at the time – that he could bully all Europe, and reap laurels at small expense." Ibid
"The Russian bear is certainly capable of anything, so long as he knows the other animals he has to deal with to be capable of nothing."
New-York Daily Tribune, No. 3819, July 14, 1853 Russian Policy Against Turkey

Some people are visibly unhappy with my criticism against German government as I add "we, Germans" to that criticism. I guess, most of them are just racists, but for those who are not I add this explainer. I write "we, Germans" because I find it very unfair to enjoy all the... /1
...privileges I have as a German citizen (don't need to list them) and to distance from German society and political culture, while criticising it. It is MY government (and I even voted for the Greens) which acts irresponsible now. It is historical responsibility of MY country /2
To live in Germany, to have a German passport, to enjoy the rights and (still) good image of Germany abroad - AND to say "I am not responsible for the shit" is the most nasty free-riding one can imagine. Of course I share responsibility for Holocaust, WW2 and other crimes. /3
