The Evil That Lives With Us🤦🏽‍♂️
A Thread! #SSOT

On 3rd May 2022, a grown man was allegedly caught red-handed dumping in a pit latrine, a body of a 6 year old girl whom he had raped, defiled and killed.

More in this ministerial statement.
What I'm going to share in this thread is nothing but my thoughts when I saw news of this terrible incident.

The following are my assumptions:
1. That the man did the act despite ongoing investigations.
2. That he had previous tendencies towards doing such acts as alleged.
3. That his friends aided and abetted his rather evil than unlawful act.
4. And that there was absolutely no body at home with the young girl and other kids.
The reason why I make these assumptions clear is that I'm opining from 3rd or 4th party information about the incident. I'm also human, I don't want my emotional biases to cloud my judgement and affect my opinion.
Now, it's important to acknowledge that none of us stands on a moral high ground. However, despite that, we can't ignore extreme acts of evil, inhumanity and imbecility.

Evil lives here with us, good also lives here with us and we can recognize any of them when we see it.
We may delusion ourselves with this religious narratives including that, "All evil doers will be punished", "all righteousness will be rewarded." And "there's a separate heaven & hell." While I doubt, it's not what I'm saying today!

Heaven & hell are both with us here already!
So, it sounds apologetic of evil, inhumanity & hardship for us to claim such horrible people will later be punished.

Let's just assume they won't be punish and either punish them or protect ourselves from them.
I have also seen tweets and Facebook post blaming the criminal justice system and the so called "corrupt system of government".

Guys, that's not the chat!
Let's ask more relevant questions than playing a blame ping pong!
Why must we be policed by a system in order to avoid evil?

Why can't we know that it's just horrible to defile, rape, or kill another even if no hell fire or jail term hanged above us for doing such?

The moral set of a society should not depend on how strong their laws are.
Why do we possess conscience if how we act will be determined by the fear of an unknown hell or heaven or a known strong, uncorrupt system of government?

Why have we outsourced our own individual self government to systems run by those who are incapable of governing themselves?
You see, the conformism inherent in us has for so long fooled us to the extent that when such things happen, we are fast in attributing failure to systems than evil individuals.

You have failed on moral a moral scale if the reason why you can't err is because punishments await.
As upright humans, we must be in position to do good even when no reward awaits.

We must also be in position to avoid bad even when no hell fire of jail term/fine awards.
Men used to be the protectors and providers to women, children and the elderly. But in our world, men are the biggest threat to women, children and the elderly.

It's common to hear of rape of kids, Violence against women and the elderly presently.
Have we asked why we have stopped raising strong men?

Have we asked why our men are abandoning families & competing for cheap favours with women or kids?

Or have we asked why fathers rapping their daughters?
You see, what we see are symptoms of the greater evil that lives with us, which we sadly can't see.

There are so many young girls and women who have ended up like Ayak Bul in various parts of our Earth.

Many Evil people get away with such acts on a daily!

And what?!
Because of the few stories that make it to media, we claim moral high ground and act like we don't know these things are happening. I'm not blaming anyone I'm just sad that we are doing worse than those who lived before us. #SSOT
Our forerunners lacked well developed justice or police systems. But they had unwritten morals codes that alone deterred them from evil even without any promised punishments or threats of the same. #SSOT
I'm sure Ayak Bul's mother like other thousands of South Sudanese mothers whose husbands are playing chess and taking chai sada(tea beverage) under Neem trees in Juba was out trying to put food on table when her daughter was defiled and murdered. Sad! #SSOT
So, many men have outsourced their responsibility to protect and provide for their families to their wives. And as a people we wait until horrors are publicized to vent our anger on a defunct system whose irreverence is bold and highlighted. Pathetic! #SSOT
We are failing our society, people and ancestors and blaming people whose incapabilities we're well aware of.

If it's true that without a strong system, we degenerate, than we are doomed as a people.

Justice is not guaranteed even when justice systems are strong. #SSOT
We can only guarantee justice by not laying comfortable grounds upon which injustice can thrive.

My heart bleeds for our young girls, women, children and the elderly whom we have failed and have no where else to look to. #SSOT
I'm sure any of those men has a daughter or a sister. Even if the perpetrator had failed on his own moral campus, what about them?

Let's learn to call out evil even if it's done by our own or even by ourselves. #SSOT
The truth is that even if there is not strong system or hell fire to punish those men, the blood of the innocent shall by any metric not leave them free in their skins.

As humans, that's what we should fear, not systems or illusionary religious narratives.
I'm not happy with how we are doing as a society and particularly as men!
I hope the soul of the innocent finds a place to rest from her struggles with the rapist since that's the only things she'll rest from. She didn't live long enough to work and thus rest at death.

Peace✌️

THEY SUFFER FROM COGNITIVE DISSONANCE.
Thread (1/2)
The other day, I saw a tweet by @nbstv in which @CHRISBARYOMUNS1 was quoted saying,
"some of you (citizens) are living a better lives than us (leaders), imagine I haven't eaten since..."
This got me thinking...so how do these chumps define a "better life"? Or why should the lives of the citizens be pegged to the lives of their leaders? And maybe, should leaders be excused from accountability just because they purportedly portray vulnerability?
However, given deeper thought, the problem is bigger than just how it appears.

The bigger problem is the fact that these leaders struggle to align their inherent beliefs, values and core human traits with the actions & decisions that they make on a daily.

EQUALITY or EQUALITY of TREATMENT? But what is EQUALLY of TREATMENT?
#Thread

We are equal, we must be seen and thus treated equally since we're equal. After all we're all human beings, so why not equal then?

Seems to make sense, right?

Well, let's dive right through it.
👇👇
Many proponents of equality are too quick to use the fact that we are all human beings to make the case for our equality. But I think being human being isn't an absolute proof of equality.

Equality in it's basic sense entails that everything about us is the same.
That everything about us should be seen and thus treated in the same way. That using humanity as a rationale, everything is the same about us since we are all human beings and hence be treated as such.

It's absurd to look at human beings this way.

7 THINGS YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN TODAYS LEGAL SPECTRUM.

Like many careers, law is another that demands a lot of hard work both at law school and outside law school.
You can hardly move a muscle and you don't meet a chump on the streets with a law degree, why?!

#Thread! #LawTalk
The following might be the difference between lawyers who earn and those who struggle.

This is not conclusive, you can also analyse the status quo, make your conclusions and add what you think is right, I will dearly appreciate.

1. Mindset
Mindset is responsible for a great deal of the proportionality of our individual problems.

The difference between the top 1% and the bottom 99% in most fields can inter alia be attributed to mindset. You can solve your problems by a half if you fixed you mindset.
