I’ve been asked quite a bit lately why I’m comfortable sharing my earnings from my #blog, so here are a few thoughts/reasons …

🧵👇🏼
1) If your goal is growing an audience, I can’t think of a better way than sharing great results.

People like information, but they LOVE results.

My approach has been:

1) share great results
2) share how I got those results
3) repeat 1-2 🔁
So far, this approach has attracted 5000+ followers in 39 days (128 followers a day).

If you need another example of this approach working, look no further than @NicheSiteLady.
@NicheSiteLady built an audience of 5000+ in just 2 weeks! 🤯 (now at 6,000)

She is sharing her results, and then she’s sharing amazing, actionable advice on how you can achieve the same.

When it comes to audience building, this formula just WORKS.
2) I share my earnings from my content site because that’s the ONLY reason I’m here.

Seeing what ppl like @nichepursuits, Jon Dykstra, @RickyAndJim etc. were making from their sites, motivated me enough to try.
If I hadn’t seen what was possible, I never would have started.

I didn’t start blogging because I love writing, or because I have a “passion” for it.

I blogged because it had the potential to give me the freedom to live my life on my own terms.
And seeing others make multiples of my salary #blogging was all I needed to dig in and learn how.

Again, if I hadn’t SEEN those results, I wouldn’t be here doing this today.
The idea that even one person will see MY results and do the same, is incredibly motivating to me.

I’ve already gotten dozens of tweets and DMs from people saying they either started blogging, or took it back up (at least in part) because of my tweets.

How cool is that?
I think that’s why I’m more comfortable sharing what I’m earning from my “side hustle”, than I am from my 9-5

Even though my side hustle is earning more now.

I don’t see a huge benefit in sharing my 9-5 income. Probably not going to motivate anyone in the same way.
Also, IMO there is less stigma around sharing side hustle income than there is around “career” income. Not entirely sure why.

Maybe because many of us tie our self worth to our incomes, or feel we’ll be judged etc.

But a topic for another day…

Almost everyone new to niche sites asks me;

“What NICHE should I pick for my #blog????”

Here’s why I think that’s the wrong question, and what questions you should be trying to answer instead …

🧵👇🏼
For starters, I’m sorry to break it to you but there aren’t any magical #niches out there that are going to guarantee your success.

And no offense, but if there were I definitely wouldn’t share it 😂
When you’re trying to figure out what niche to write about, start by writing down a list of anything and EVERYTHING you’re interested in and/or have SOME knowledge about.

Don’t hold back, write it all down.

Piggybacking off @jaredbauman, using his last tweet as a template…

"Should you target high search volume or low search volume keywords? Or just not worry about it?"

I analyzed my Top 10 posts from April this year, let’s see what even more data suggests… Image

I learned how to start a #blog (now at 500,000+ pageviews and making $20,000/month) by watching FREE YouTube videos by Jim and Ricky at Income School.

Here are the EXACT videos I started with...

(11 videos, 2.5 hours total)

🧵👇
For whatever reason, Jim and Ricky kept popping up early on in my journey learning how to blog.

As I watched more and more of their content, it just felt different from the other stuff out there.

Two normal, down-to-earth people, simplifying SEO.

PERFECT.
The foundational videos I will share cover the following topics:

1) Picking a niche
2) Keyword research
3) Writing a blog post
4) End-to-end execution of 1-3

When I wanted to make some extra income blogging online, I YouTubed how to do it…
When I needed to learn how to build a pantry door, completely from scratch, and frame it, with zero prior experience, I YouTubed how to do it…

#Blogging MEGA Thread

2.5 years of experience that took my website to 500,000+ pageviews, and $20,000 a month.

I’m always learning, but here’s what I’ve picked up along the way (so far!)

Hopefully it helps save you some time, and avoid some of the mistakes I made.

As of this moment, I average about 2,177 pageviews/month per post.

But arguably one of the most "valuable" posts on my site gets less than 400 pageviews/month.

That's because it's a LINK MAGNET, (it attracted a highly relevant DR 90 link!)...

🧵👇 Image
If you're not familiar with the term, a backlink is just when another site links to your article, or website.

As more and more RELEVANT sites link back to your content, a strong signal is sent to Google that your site is legit.
Overtime you start to develop more and more "authority" in the eyes of Google. Google begins to see you as the expert in your niche.

The more relevant backlinks you can get, the stronger your site becomes, and the "easier" it gets to rank for certain keywords.
