I've spent years studying content and understanding how to improve it.

This short thread is about common #SEO (and non) misconceptions that block your traffic growth. 🧡
The first mistake I see is being picky. Great idea, don't write listicles, comparisons and reviews so that your competitors can take it all!

A business blog/website is for what people want, not for your ego.
Lack of internal links. The capital sin of content maintenance, forgetting to link to your old content.

Viceversa is also true, you should always link to your newly-published articles.
Not having a content plan. It's great to write stuff but you need a vision.

A long-term strategy can be expressed via content plans.

Keep it simple, and make a list of what you need to write about...
Complicating the simple stuff. Why should you make the possible impossible?

Sometimes you just need to change some titles or link articles, that's it.

Just publish and optimize later.
Over diversification. Talking about a billion topics at the same time, without a clear direction.

Cover one topic first, dominate it and then expand.

There are exceptions tho, usually not.
Not checking Google Search Console. The first thing I check, I don't even care or bother with the rest.

Don't use 3rd party tools for content audits, you have Google data!!!
Ignoring the long-tail and focusing on mainstream stuff.

You should start from the bottom, you can imagine keywords as split into tiers.

This is an imaginary division as an example but there are easier keywords, that's a fact.
Keywords > Topics and other BS you can tell yourself.

Focus on topics that your audience will like. KWs are important but you should rely on topics and logical connections instead.

This is true for the content plan too.
Let's publish once in a while...

Nope, you should keep consistency and try to proceed at a regular pace.

You cannot survive by publishing once per year, you need to be a regular.
Let's write without checking my competitors. Always check them, find them and spy on them!

You cannot have success if you don't know what they are doing!
Don't update content. You have to update your old content with new internal links and ideas.

Be on the lookout, competitors are waiting for your mistakes.
Writing without doing your best. Publishing is cool but you need to write outstanding content to rank in some niches...

Backlinks help you but you still need "viable" content

How to differentiate yourself as an #SEO professional?

What I've learned so far can be your fortune, who knows.

A short thread about YOUR value proposition. 🧡
Focus on one area of SEO rather than doing it all.

It's easier to pick something you like and collaborate with others to solve problems.

I picked content, data and strategy because I feel comfortable with them.
Ignore trends if they are not suitable for what you want to do.

Of course, you have to be updated but you don't need to learn new skills if they're totally unrelated to what you want to achieve.

A quick recap on why coding (#Python) may help some #SEO professionals or some people pursuing their goals.

A short thread for those folks looking for motivation 🧡
🐍 Scrape competitors to get their headings and optimize accordingly.

Check their sitemaps/RSS feeds to find articles and understand their content frequency.
🐍 Analyze SERPs and find keywords with the same pages.

Analyze titles, get the most common words and visualize them.

Fight fire with fire: how to leverage competitors using AI-generated or translated content and much more!

And not only that, how to expand your ideas!

Here's my second short thread. 🧡
In a lot of non-English speaking countries, it's full of scraped, translated or even generated websites.

This is actually super good for you and you will see why it's so convenient.
Finding these websites is not so hard if you look for niche stuff or try some slightly different research.

It's important to find as many as you can because you can find some cool data.

Once you have the list...

Launching a new format today: short threads. 🧡

How to find golden opportunities in Google Search Console.

Increase your traffic and (possibly?) ROI by finding new #SEO insights.
You can use Google Sheets or #Python/R, as you prefer.

If you go with the first, download this add-on:

workspace.google.com/marketplace/ap…
Python: searchconsole (github.com/joshcarty/goog…)

R: searchConsoleR (cran.r-project.org/web/packages/s…)

This is what you need to query the API, much better!

After some years in blogging, I've tested several techniques and methods so you don't have to!

This thread is all about content and blogs, yes, also niche websites. 🧡
Before I start, check my related thread as well:

The first thing to recall is that simple is always better.

Forget a lot of technical details, content websites need content.

This seems obvious but it's not at all!

The amount of people still wasting time on useless technical fixes is enormous.

Some #SEO concepts that are not so common across mainstream resources.

They will probably become more known with time (I hope).

This is an updated thread 🧡
"Proper" Content Marketing. Most of us work with content and have a deep interest in content, to some extent.

Content Marketing is a separate subject but it overlaps with some SEO areas.

On-Page optimization is usually presented as a checklist of instructions.
Great content doesn't follow a boring checklist.

Even the process of optimization is not as simple as before.

This is quite hard to explain!
