So let me get this right.

In 2008 the economy tanked because rich greedy bankers took irresponsible risks.

Rather than take their money the uk government made us pay for 10 years by imposing crippling austerity on us.

1/
A couple of years ago Covid arrived in the uk and found us woefully unprepared. Pandemic preparedness PPE stocks were out of date, the government were slow to respond and so by the time they did they were in a flat panic.

2/
They used this state of panic to justify shortcutting proper procedure and fast tracking their unqualified friends for huge PPE contracts despite there being numerous professional suppliers, thus transferring billions of pounds of public money to their friends.

3/
The government also commissioned, at vast cost, an ineffective track and trace system in a way that was advised against by experts.

These actions possibly constitute the largest wealth transfer in history.

4/
Nearly 200k of us die in the name of economic recovery being a priority for the government, and they misleadingly claim the fastest recovery in the G7, conveniently omitting that because of the slow initial response and huge spending mentioned the reason for this growth was…

5/
…that just prior to the time they start measuring this growth we’d experienced the highest drop in the G7.

Now the economy has been dropped .6% since Feb and is flatlining dispelling any further ability to claim that these hardships have been worthwhile.

6/
Global fuel prices soar and we find that the government have depleted our reserves over the last few years leaving us exposed.

Inflation outperforms wages and is set to hit 10% making everything in the shops more expensive and further squeezing personal finances.

7/
Sunak’s response is to rejig some thresholds and claim they’ve cut taxes to help, when in fact the net result is negligible and punitive to working people.

He doesn’t impose any taxes on those earning from assets or investments.

A spring statement that protects the rich.

8/
Over the period between 2008 and 2022 food-bank usage has increased sharply as people have been forced into poverty by the policies mentioned.

9/
The response from Tories is to patronise people by saying that they should buy own brand products, learn to budget better or take cookery courses.

Meanwhile they gaslight us to try and normalise food-banks rather than admitting that they are the symptom of a broken system.

10/
We are unable to cope now not because of the financial shocks but because we came into this cost of living crisis on our knees having been crushed by intentional policies designed to exploit us for their personal gain.

11/
I can’t help but feel that we’re near some kind of tipping point where good and patient people who simply cannot cope any more reach the threshold of their tolerance.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

And #FuckTheTories.

Victoria Atkins (Conservative Justice Minister) said on @BBCNewsnight last night that they are going to "reform GDPR so that businesses find it easier to manage data".

#ToryBritain #BrexitReality
As a software engineer of 25 years specialising in web software of exactly this kind, I have an intimate understanding of GDPR, data privacy and data security in computer systems.

GDPR is an excellent piece of legislation and should not be amended.

2/
It protects us from data theft, identity theft and from big business playing fast and loose with our private data.

Deregulation, which I read as a relaxation of standards, would put us all at risk of exploitation by big business and the nefarious.
