Authoritarian leaders can't just flick a switch and turn a democratic, free country into a fascist state. It takes time.
Two major things needed to happen.
1) They needed to remove the control of external forces

So let me get this right.
In 2008 the economy tanked because rich greedy bankers took irresponsible risks.
Rather than take their money the uk government made us pay for 10 years by imposing crippling austerity on us.

A couple of years ago Covid arrived in the uk and found us woefully unprepared. Pandemic preparedness PPE stocks were out of date, the government were slow to respond and so by the time they did they were in a flat panic.

As a software engineer of 25 years specialising in web software of exactly this kind, I have an intimate understanding of GDPR, data privacy and data security in computer systems.
GDPR is an excellent piece of legislation and should not be amended.
