Over the past few days, #FBI leadership and personnel continued to support National #PoliceWeek 2022 by participating in a variety of commemorations and events.
On May 12, the Bureau hosted a Wall of Honor Memorial Service at FBI Headquarters. There, Director Wray gathered with family members, personnel, and FBI Police to honor and remember the dedication and bravery of two agents who gave their lives in service to our country in 2021.
On May 13, Director Wray attended the 34th Annual Candlelight Vigil to honor more than 600 fallen heroes and read the names of fallen FBI Special Agents Laura Schwartzenberger, Daniel Alfin, Jimmie John Daniels, and Thomas James Mohnal.
On May 14, #FBI Deputy Director Paul M. Abbate, FBI Police officers, and other Bureau personnel took part in the National Police Week 5K.

Today, the #FBI released 2021 statistics on law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty—both feloniously and accidentally. Read a detailed summary of this data at go.usa.gov/xuGWB.
Seventy-three law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty last year—an increase over 2020. The largest percentage of these officers died in unprovoked attacks. The average age of the victim was 39 years old. go.usa.gov/xuGWB
Fifty-six law enforcement officers were killed accidentally while on the job in 2021. This also reflects an increase over 2020. Most of last year's accidental line-of-duty deaths occurred due to motor vehicle crashes.
