According to the Vedas, the 'desi' breed of #cows & #bulls of #India are direct descendants of Kamadhenu - the divine Gaumata - who emerged from the kshirasagar during the Samudra Manthan itself. She is dhenu, the giver of all bounties.

Kamadhenu is known to exist in five different forms: Nanda, Sunanda, Surabhi, Sumana, and Susheela. Her other names are Sabala and Matrika. She is the divine mother of all cows. She is the daughter of Prajapati, mother of all 11 Rudras.

The devas or gods decided to give Kamadhenu to the Saptarishis, for whom the sacred cow supplies milk and ghee essential for vedic yagnas. In time, she came into the ownership of the Rishi Vashista.

Kamadhenu also is said to have protected Rishi Vashishta from the wrath of kings by producing hordes of warriors, that destroyed armed forces heading to attack the Rishi's ashram.

As Surabhi, she was first worshipped by Shri Krishna Himself and her dhyanam is mentioned in the Yajur Ved. She is equated to the Kalp Vriksh itself - a tree that could manifest any thought (desire). She could bless her devotees with anything - success, prosperity, offspring, etc

It is said that those who worship Surabhi on the day following Diwali night themselves become worship-worthy in the world. Once in Varahakalpa Surabhi does not yield milk, following which anxious devatas reach the Brahmlok, praying to Lord Brahma.

Upon Lord Brahma's advice, Indra Dev chants a hymn dedicated to Surabhi. Pleased by his devotion, Surabhi grants Mahendra a boon and proceeds to Goloka.

Our shaastras say there is no desired worldly pleasure, gyan, or siddhi, or any other blessing that Surabhi cannot bestow upon those that worship her with true devotion.

Today, the world sings praises of #cowcuddling therapy, and descendants of Surabhi (various desi breeds of cows and bulls) are smuggled like potato bags and slaughtered illegally and ruthlessly for meat.

Infact, in some countries "Brahman" cows/bulls from India are specially bred and sold for anywhere between $ 3,000 - $ 15,000. Even western countries recognize the special nature & traits of these divine beings.

It is now recognized widely that the desi breed of cows and bulls are different from the others - insofar as their milk contains only A2 Beta Casein, they are behaviorally docile, easily trained, emotionally intelligent and highly adaptive to environmental conditions.

A study in the BMC Nutrition Journal found that consumption of milk from other breeds, containing A1 β-casein was associated with increased gastrointestinal inflammation, worsening of PD3 symptoms, delayed transit, and decreased cognitive processing speed and accuracy.
