BREAKING: The #CalcuttaHighCourt has ordered a CBI/NIA probe in a plea by the wives of 2 politicians alleging that their husbands were forcibly converted to Islam by a political party as a punishment for supporting a rival political party after they lost in the assembly election.
The order notes that the petitioners in the plea are two sisters and the respective husbands are the two brothers and worked for a political party that had lost the 2021 assembly elections. The husbands went missing in November 2021 and the wives filed a police complaint.
According to the order the complaint was received by the concerned Police Stations and was TORN UP by a civic volunteer. The Civic volunteer also informed the wives that
their husbands have CONVERTED to islam. #CalcuttaHighCourt
The advocate for the State of #WestBengal informed the court that the husbands had left their homes due to family disputes and converted themselves to Islam VOLUNTARILY and therefore refused to return back to their residences.
#WestBengal’s lawyer informed the court that the husbands whose erstwhile names were Gouranga Mondal and Buddhu Mondal now go by the names Gousal Azam and Md. Ibrahim. He produced sworn-in affidavits by the husbands to tell the court that they converted voluntarily.
The #CalcuttaHighCourt has noted that “It is NOT clear as to why the affidavits have been affirmed and for what PURPOSE.”The court further said it was SURPRISED to note that the Police Station has still not registered an FIR or has not taken any steps after receiving complaints
The order notes that there are other allegations that include random forcible conversion, CROSS BORDER INFILTRATION, threats and intimidation by ACCUMULATION & STORAGE OF HUGE QUANTITIES OF ARMS & AMMUNITION & COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY. #WestBengal
The #CalcuttaHighCourt order has noted that the wives APPREHEND A THREAT TO LIFE and has therefore order the SP of MALDA to review their security and take immediate measures. The matter will not be considered further on June 21, 2022. #WestBengal

Attorney General KK Venugopal speaking over the retirement of Justice L Nageswara Rao said that we are loosing a very good judge and a cricketer. He has given a large number of very very important judgements.

Court reading out from the report, The technical committee has received and tested 20 Mobiles, the Committee has also recorded statements of petitioners. Through an public consultation a large number of responses have been received. It will be finalised by end of May 2022.
Court: It would require some time to consider the suggestions and recommendations of the committee.
CJI Ramana: They have asked for some time and we'll allow them. They are examining it, they have issued notices to some people and agencies also.
