Hi! This is my first tweet official tweet. I figured it was worth dusting off this as yet unused account (too much to do, too little time) for something this important.

Tl:dr - I'm asking you to please support this #bced cause:

So, like many parents (& grandparents & teachers & so many others), I've been calling repeatedly for scientifically-sound COVID mitigation measures in BC schools. As a former practicing engineer, I'm stunned at the exclusion of Professional Engineers from school safety plans.
It seems straightforward. The application of ASHRAE guidance requires the skills & responsibility of Professional Engineers (mechanical / building). I spoke with consulting engineering colleagues. They have many commercial clients who are indeed retaining them to
evaluate, advise, design, monitor COVID safety measures to reduce the risk that building occupants catch COVID at work. #COVIDIsAirborne and ASHRAE sets North American HVAC guidance. So, much of this engineering work relies on @ashraenews Epidemic Task Force guidance.
I sat through both the Alberta & BC webinars explaining the ASHRAE guidance. It became very clear from my experience and other parents' experience that BC schools were not retaining Professional Engineers to help implement this guidance.
I spent a lot of time documenting the situation, and have filed a complaint with Engineers & Geoscientists of BC. I really would like as much of the complaint to be as public as possible because I believe there is an imminent public health & safety risk as a result of ignorance
and improper use of the ASHRAE guidance. I also want to make sure there is clear responsibility & accountability for my children's health & safety while they are attending school.

This seems to be a cross-country problem, too.
So I hope in sharing everything I possibly can now, it helps make schools safer faster and prevents some COVID in kids, teachers & their households.

I'm conscious, though, of potentially sensitive info in the complaint. Hence the need for legal advice.
I really am extremely grateful for any support. As I said, I hope the legal bill is less than the retainer. Any excess will go to @Protect_BC.

And as soon as I am clear on what can be shared publicly, I will share as much as I can.

Thank you!

P.S. Now that I've inaugurated this account, I may actually use it more. If you are interested in advocating for engineering measures to mitigate against #COVIDIsAirborne, or if you are into the #CircularEconomy, my passion, then please give me a follow.😊
I'm going to tag some of the aerosol and ASHRAE experts in case I can draw attention to this!
