Shouta remembers the day Hizashi asked him out in their second year at UA as though it was yesterday.

They’d been sitting on the rooftop waiting for Nemuri and Oboro to make their appearance sharing a bento box between them, when Hizashi made his move. It had been a long

morning and Shouta was struggling to keep his eyes open, so he was hardly surprised when he dozed off and found himself with his head in Hizashi’s lap, the blonde running his fingers through his hair. Neither of them spoke, enjoying the comfortable silence, at least until

Hizashi took a deep breath and calmly asked if he could take Shouta out for dinner come the weekend.

“Not as friends,” Hizashi clarified while scratching his arm, a nervous habit Shouta and Oboro had been trying to help him break, “As…you know, a…date?”

Smiling Shouta had put his hand over Hizashi’s, stopping him from tearing up his arm any further and said “I’d like that.”

And that was that. 15 years and 2 adopted children later they’re still going strong, and despite the stress of their jobs and trying to wrangle a group

of unruly students who seem to attract trouble on a regular basis, Shouta’s never been happier.

It’s on the morning of their 15th anniversary that everything goes wrong.

Shouta would be lying if he said he enjoyed watching over the joint training sessions between 1A and 1B. The rivalry between the classes had become somewhat legendary among the teachers, and to a certain the extent the students. It was exhausting to say the least, even if Vlad

did seem to take pleasure in the chaos. That being said, having Nemuri, Toshinori and Hizashi also assisting in the exercise was a bit of a relief as it meant he didn’t need to keep a constant eye on each of his students.

Standing on the top observation platform, Hizashi beside him, Shouta glances down at the one below where Vlad and Nemuri were talking quietly while the students sparred. Whatever she said to Bakugo had the explosive teenager spitting blood and setting off a particularly strong

explosion that sent Tetsutetsu flying across the grounds.

“Bakugo!” Shouta snaps, flaring his quirk when the kid turns to look up at him “This is a sparring exercise, not a battle, watch your temper or you can spend a week in detention.”

The blonde rolls his eyes but otherwise seems to calm down.

Hizashi chuckles, crossing his arms over his chest “You’ve got your hands full with that one huh Sho?”

“I swear these kids are trying to drive me to an early grave.” He huffs.

His husband goes to say something but his phone ringing cuts him off.

“Sorry Sho, won’t be a minute.” Shouta waves him off as he moves to the back of the platform to take the call. Another explosion and this time it’s Monoma who’s sent head over heels.

“Bakugo!” He bellows “You’re out! Sit down and if you use your quirk again you’ll have 2 weeks of detention!” His angriest student throws his hands in the air but stomps off to the side-lines where Toshinori is waiting. “Damn kids.” Hizashi’s footsteps alert him to his husband’s

return and then an arm wraps around his waist while Hizashi presses up against his back. “Zashi?” Raising an eyebrow he turns to look at him. While he’s not against public displays of affection, cuddling up with Hizashi is one of his favourite things after all, they agreed

a long time ago that keeping their relationship quiet was for the best.

“I love you Sho,” Hizashi whispers, voice breaking as burying his face in Shouta’s hair.

“Zashi?” Shouta questions quietly, resting his hands over his husband’s, concerned by the sudden shift in attitude and by the fact that the other man sounds like he’s on the verge of tears.

“I love you so much.”

Shouta opens his mouth to reply but is cut off by Hizashi’s right hand flying up from his side and colliding with his chest. A sharp pain radiates from beneath Hizashi’s hand and Shouta finds himself powerless to do anything but gasp for air as the realisation hits him.

He’s been stabbed.

His husband of 15 years, his best friend, has just stabbed him.

Hizashi moves swiftly from there on, releasing his hold on the knife, leaving it firmly embedded in Shouta's chest, and carefully lowers him to the ground, crying all the while.

Shouta's not certain, too busy fighting for air and clinging onto Hizashi's arm to confirm it, but he’s fairly certain he hears Midoriya and Bakugo scream his name shortly followed by the sound of an explosion.

“I love you so much.” Hizashi repeats, leaning down to kiss his forehead. Confusion overtakes Shouta as he stares up at the man he loves, his own tears mimicking Hizashi’s, fighting for every breath. He wants to ask why, to activate his quirk and check that this isn’t really

Toga in disguise or another villain, the inability to breathe and panic prevents him from doing anything other than gasp for air and reach out towards the other man as Hizashi steps away.

“Sensei!” Midoriya screams from somewhere nearby while Shouta watches his husband disappear through a familiar portal.

Blood fills as throat as Midoriya and Bakugo suddenly drop into view, fear and confusion on their faces, shortly followed by a frantic Nemuri scrambling towards him with Vlad on her heels.

She brushes past the students, throwing herself to the ground beside Shouta, eyes wide in panic.

“Hang on Sho,” She pleads, one hand resting beside the knife in his chest and the other cupping his cheek. “Tenya’s gone to get Chiyo, just hold on, please.”

His chest is getting tighter now, each breath harder than the previous, and he can feel the tears rolling down his cheeks. He doesn’t understand. That morning he’d woken up in Hizashi’s arms, his husband wrapped around him like an octopus, and had laughed as he was

rolled onto his back and kissed fifteen times.

“One for every year we’ve been married!” Hizashi teased before pulling him into one more, deeper passionate kiss seconds before their children burst in through the door shouting ‘Happy Anniversary!’ with a tray of breakfast foods

and coffee. They were meant to be going out for a family dinner that evening, the four of them in addition to Nemuri, Tensei and Toshinori, finishing up the evening with a trip to the cinema.

It was going to be perfect.

Now he lies on the cold hard metal of the observation deck, a knife in his lung, slowly choking to death on his own blood, Nemuri desperately trying to save his life while his husband is god knows where.
His vision begins to go dark as he

violently coughs, Nemuri quickly rolling him onto his side so he can spit out the blood.

“Sho!” He hears her shout, though her voice is strangely distant now. “Dammit Sho! Come on! Where’s Chiyo?!” She screams.

Shouta only has eyes for the head of purple hair that’s being held back by Midoriya and Bakugo, hand outstretched towards him.

“Dad! Let me go! DAD!”

Shouta’s hand creeps across the dirt in an effort to reach back.

Through the blood he weakly whispers “Toshi”

“SHOUTA!”

“DAD!”

Everything goes dark.

I was feeling sad and needed a way to vent, sorry for hurting Dadzawa </3

And yes the implied kids are Shinso and Eri 😅
