A quiet 37.1 dBA at full power with an estimated CADR of 243. This CADR puts it in competition with a MERV13 Lasko box fan build, the noise level puts it over the top.
4 Arctic P14 fans (5 pack $30)
4 Ikea Starkvind Filters ($60)
GDStime AC to 12V DC power adapter with speed control ($19 with a fan, can get a cheaper adapter with no speed control 1A ok for fans only)
DC 55 x 21 supply plug to 4x PC Fan power adapter ($10)
1+ sheet of 5mm thick 20"x30" foam board. (1 sheet is enough material to make everything except the last two struts).
Hot glue
16x 45mm M4 bolts
16x M4 nuts
16x M4 washers
Extras for LEDs:
1 to 2 way DC power splitter plug (to split power for the LEDs, $6.59 for 2)
16.4ft LED strip lights ($11.89)
Update about the Arctic P14 fans: my family informs me they sometimes make a “UHHHHHHHHHHH” sound
I haven’t experienced it yet, seems to be intermittent.

The S9's stock finger protector creates a gap between the fan and the mounting plate. After taking it apart and swapping the protectors to eliminate that gap, CADR was retested.

If you've got one, swap them! @JimRosenthal4
Disassembly 🪛💥
Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the top. Next, peel the honeycomb protectors off (pic 1). They're stuck on with vibration reduction pads.
Flip the fan enclosure (pic 2), unscrew the bottom, and remove the standard protectors (pic 3).
Reassembly 🪛👍
Lift the enclosure off the fans, stick on the honeycomb protectors, put it back on the fans, make sure the wiring exits cleanly, then LOOSELY screw it all back together (snug screws at the end). The unmarked side of the fans should be visible like in the picture.
And the rest is tests I've run on different configurations. Not everything uses the latest technique. I used to run the ventilation and deposition trial as part of the cleaner trial. And while I was still using the SDS011, I would run the pm2.5 count up much higher than now.
Purpose of this build was to use all 5 fans in the P14 5-pack and to go as low-cost as possible with fans + power supply. PWM PST version more expensive but they daisy chain, one less connector to purchase & assembly is easier.
