1. Today at 5pm, I was meant to give a lecture, for which I was invited since February, at @mumok_vienna and @akbild for the 'decolonial feminist' programme launched by Verein K.
But, four days ago, I have been CANCELLED under the pressure of pro-Zionist groups in Vienna.
2. So far, all I have been told that the abstract I submitted a long while ago, and was approved by the same institutions...is 'offensive' and contains 'transgression of discursive boundaries'.
I call on all free academics of the world to come forward in condemnation of my cancellation and censorship. This is about the present and future of any critical academic scholarship vis-a-vis the state of Israel.
4. This is a systematic racist attack against Palestinian scholars and the integrity of their work, whose bases can always be devalidated and flagged as 'pseudo-science' on the basis of 'objective' knowledge, meaning: white and colonial.
5. This is a decision of a political nature. There was no due process to reach this decision, thus it is a form of #authoritarianism within so-called democratic #Europe.
Here is my response to @akbild grotesque statement!!
A summary 🧵, jump to last one if you want to read the whole letter...
2. @akbild decision to cancel my lecture on the basis of unfounded allegations goes against the principles that your institution, as a legal entity of public law, is bound to observe. This includes your duty to respect the diversity of academic and art theory, and doctrines
3. On the use of the term de-differentiation, it is scholarly and intellectually unintelligible in relation to the case we are discussing.
A 🧵on Zionist fascists cancelling/silencing my lecture in Vienna. 👇
Please SHARE & SHAME widely 🇵🇸
1. I was invited to give a talk on 30.05 based on my upcoming book with @routledgebooks on gender, sexuality and settler colonialism in Palestine organised by @mumok_vienna, @akbild and Verein K in Vienna.
2. Zionist ‘watchdogs’ have used the ‘anti-semitism’ card to pressure @mumok_vienna and @akbild, which have fallen prey to these fascists requests and cancelled the event. This is a blatant attack on academic freedom to discuss Palestinian rights and anticolonial plight.
