For those who didn't grow up Evangelical

Are you at your wit's end, and can't understand why the GQP don't seem to care about dead children?

Are you unable to comprehend why the GQP, even the ones not under NRA payroll, don't seem to care about gun violence?

A thread.

To understand why, you have to understand the Evangelical mindset.

They live in an entirely separate world, one where demons lurk around every corner, and they're told constantly that the entire world wants to murder them.

This is not hyperbole.

This is how Evangelical leaders keep ahold of their cultists; keep them afraid, keep them on edge, and give them an enemy to hate.

As a general rule, the rank-and-file Evies are not the problem. They're simply drones doing what they're told.

Evie LEADERS, however....

They care about exactly two things.

Money and power.

That's how it's been from the start.

Allowing gun violence to run rampant hits both of these points.

MONEY: Allowing gun violence to run rampant among schools is twofold here.

1. Parents become increasingly scared and worried, and will pull their kids out of public school, while teachers quit in droves due to burnout/fear. This is already happening.

2. A crippling teacher shortage, coupled with a vastly decreased student population, will give the GQP the ammo they need to argue that public school should be gutted/abolished (something they've been biting at for decades), and replaced with their private/charter school system.

2a. On the flipside, for those who can't afford the private schools, most of them will turn to homeschooling.

Almost every homeschooling program and curriculum out there is Evangelical-controlled and funded.

Hell, Evie leadership was slobbering at the COVID outbreak over it;

They viewed it as a "business opportunity," wherein they could snag more young minds for brainwashing, and take their parents' money.

So, to condense: Evie leadership makes money on both ends, through abolishing public schools in favor of private, and homeschooling.

POWER: We touched on this a tad previously in the thread.

These new private schools/homeschooling curriculum

The vast majority of them will be steeped in the Evangelical cult.

Their views will be imposed above all, providing a brand new "crop" of brainwashable kids.

Evangelicals know they're losing their grip. They're losing power, and young people are fleeing the church in droves, as repeatedly shown by the #EmptyThePews tag, started by @C_Stroop

This is their last ditch push to stay alive.

And honestly? I'm terrified it's working.

Addendum, as this was brought to my attention

I advocate for aiming at the head of the snake; cut that off, the body dies. That is absolutely where our focus should be.

However, rank-and-file Evies can and do absolutely still cause widespread misery, and are not to be trusted.

I should have been more careful with my wording, and that's on me.

The rank-and-file aren't "harmless." By any means.

But our focus should absolutely remain on the head of the snake.
