Today as I reflect on the sacrifices that so many men, women and families made for the freedoms that we all enjoy, I am thinking fondly of family and friends who have both served and returned home, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 1/ #MemorialDay2022#txcd2
But my thoughts keep returning to my great-Uncle, my grandmother's brother, Henry Lawless. Uncle Henry was killed during World War II. 2/
Clearly, I did not know Uncle Henry, but my grandmother spoke lovingly about him. She was there the day that the telegram arrived saying he had been killed in action. She was deeply affected by that experience. 3/
I am honored to be Henry's great niece. I come from a legacy of military service and that self-less dedication to this country has helped to shape who I am.
