It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry to the #BatmanvSuperman references to the DC lore series. Today is the turn for the Metamorphosis scene in the 🧵 below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #BvSMondayMood Image
In this one Lex Luthor uses his blood and General Zod’s body to start creating the desecration without name. In this one there is not a particular reference but wanted to highlight different things about these scenes that are similar to comics. ImageImage
First, Lex Luthor is trying to create a creature to kill Superman. This has happened a lot in the comics, especially for different versions of Bizarro. For instance, in Post-Crisis, in The Man of Steel #5 he creates a clone of Superman that ends up becoming Bizarro (a creature). ImageImageImage
In this scene Luthor combines his blood with Zod’s body to create this deformity. Though Luthor uses sometimes human DNA to create Bizarro he does not seem to use his own. However, he does use his DNA (and Superman’s) to create Superboy in several versions of the comic. ImageImage
I guess I could also write about times in the comics where Lex Luthor either creates or revives/enhances Doomsday. But that will have to wait until he creates and names Doomsday later in #BatmanvSuperman. ImageImageImage
To finish I want to highlight the uniqueness of Lex using his DNA plus Zod’s body to create something. That has hardly happened in the comics, and in #BvS it reinforces the continuity with #ManofSteel allowing Snyder to play with parallels like this later on which I love! Image
So that’s a wrap for today’s scene. Remember if you like this thread or any previous ones, consider donating to the @afspnational Autumn Snyder Fund. Every small amount counts to raise awareness for this cause! supporting.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuse…
Adding this one here of Lex using his DNA to create a bizarro which seems similar to what he does with Zod’s body

I rewatched #BatmanvSuperman almost a month ago now and I’ve been tweeting sporadically about what caught my eye this time. Wanted to compile everything in a 🧵 that you can check out below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse ImageImageImageImage

It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry into the #BatmanvSuperman references the DC lore series. Today, it’s time for Part 2 of the last scene of the movie Amazing Grace in the 🧵 below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #BvSMondayMood Image
Part 1 was all about different DC references out there. And today it’s all going to be about the references (and differences) from the Funeral for a Friend storyline. So much to dissect so this one (my last one) is going to be a long one 😅, so let's get to it! Image
First off, there are several homages in the Metropolis funeral in #BvS to Funeral for a Friend. ImageImageImageImage

This scene has many references. Several of them to the storyline in Funeral for a Friend. And then several others to different pieces of DC media/comics. So today, I’ll cover these latter types of references and next week I’ll close out with the Funeral for a Friend ones.
So, let’s start with these peppered DC references. First, we can see similarities in Superman’s funeral to the Comedian funeral in Watchmen. This is not too surprising since Zack Snyder was behind the camera in both. ImageImage

This scene (and the next ones, ups spoilers) homage several parts of the continuation to The Death of Superman storyline in comics which was called Funeral for a Friend, an 8 issue storyline across different comics. Image
However, the first reference in this scene is not to this storyline, but to All Star Superman #5 with Lex in prison with the orange suit and a classical look after being shaved. ImageImage

Not surprisingly, there are homages to the The Death of Superman storyline and specifically to Superman #75 which is the final comic in this run. And what a better time to do this thread as we get closer to celebrating the 30th anniversary of this classical moment in comics! ImageImage
So, we start with Clark saying to Lois how much he loves her before his final fight with Doomsday. ImageImage

It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry into the #BatmanvSuperman references the DC lore series. Today, it’s time for the mythical Is She With You/Trinity versus Doomsday scene in the thread below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #BvSMondayMood Image
Several classical homages here to comics. Let’s start from one that was part of last week’s thread with Superman lying in space at the beginning of the scene and how it looks like Injustice: Gods Among Us #33. ImageImage
Then we get Batman saved by Wonder Woman as it is common in the Snyderverse. She has a very classical pose from the comics. And there might be several references in here. I really like how it looks like from Trinity #6 (which actually took place after #BvS). ImageImage
