I’ve just finished up at the Society for Scholarly Publishing’s @ScholarlyPub annual meeting in #Chicago, and there’s only one thing on my mind right now: #Science is on the verge of an outright #transformation. 🧵1/12
I say this because @ResearchGate and publishers are at last working together, and because we’re working on the same mission: to make progress in #science and for #humanity. 2/12
@ResearchGate Papers have always been the medium for effectively communicating research and sparking collaboration, but what’s special about this moment is that we’re now starting to combine all of this important content with the power of the ResearchGate network. 3/12
This is something unique in the history of science. 4/12
On Thursday, @lisalibrarian, Susan King @RockUPress , @RoryRWilliams, @LDBarrett19 @Hindawi , and I presented an overview of content syndication and some of the existing partnerships. 5/12
We demonstrated how adding publisher content to ResearchGate improves discoverability, benefits both authors and readers, and helps publishers fulfill their mission. 6/12
When we started ResearchGate we never thought about it through the lens of content. We were focused on bringing scientists and researchers together to solve the world’s most important challenges. 7/12

One of the most encouraging aspects of science is how there are no borders – people come together to find solutions to common problems. 8/12
I see now more than ever that through content and people coming together, scholarly communication and professional networking are coming together to do something great. This is going to change science! 9/12
It’s the first time I’ve attended the SPP conference (Lisa Hinchliffe told me way back when in our first interview that I need to visit! Thanks, Lisa!) and I was so encouraged by the conversations I had. 10/12
I’d like to say thank you to everyone I met and to all the publishers we work with. @SpringerNature , @WileyGlobal , @Hindawi , @RockUPress, @IOPPublishing , and @OAE20141 . And not forgetting the one I accidentally announced at the #conference – more news soon :) ! 11/12
@ResearchGate has long been labeled a #disruptor. I don’t like this word. I know I’ve used it in the past too, but it doesn’t describe what’s happening here correctly – ResearchGate and publishers working together to help evolve the way science to the next level. 12/12
