Let's go back to the beginning, the very beginning.

Where did the inspiration for Pangea start?

While at a school desk in a Hong Kong classroom in early 1991.

The first Gulf War created a number of concerning headlines in Asia.

Most shocking of which to my 8 year old self...

...when Iraqi troops started dumping oil into the Persian Gulf to stop a US coalition-led water landing on their shores.

Approximately 4 million barrels of oil.

Creating an oil slick of 4,000 square miles up to five inches thick.

My short protest poem was printed in our school magazine that year.

I can still see the images of birds stuck in the oil slick and the beaches stained black.

Oil and fossil fuels have continued to be a thorn in my side to the present day.

I've had to live with them.

And we are hoping to play a small part in accelerating the transition to renewable sources of energy.

Through our words, our actions, and our pensions.

These are all important parts of the Pangea jigsaw...

I studied Economics, Maths and Physics at A-level.

The Physics A-level syllabus in the late 90s was pretty dry.

But we were blessed with an amazing teacher.

Who would teach in tangents.

His stories, insights, and anecdotes were incredibly rich in context and variety.
