So for my homebrew #dnd like system I don't use a wisdom attribute at all. Instead I use a willpower attribute (WIL) and perception (PER) attribute.
Perception is general awareness, senses, noticing clues and tracks, spotting traps and detecting lies.
Will is resisting...
...seduction, gold lust, addiction, hunger and spells that control you. It also turns undead and drives more clerical spells.
For me, intelligence is more about information. Higher intelligence characters get detailed facts about things with history, lower get just basics.
Where a scholar sees a sculpture of the goddess Pfriatt, carved in a style popular a century ago among the bone mages of Gillicka... the barbarian sees "wooden statue of some naked chick".
I don't allow healing potions to exist. You can have medicine when you are being treated if you survive the fucking stupid situation you got yourself in.
Generally I run a simplified health system based on status effects and negative modifiers.
You get battered about being winded, bashed, staggered and stunned and all that goes away after the fight ends.
You keep the major stuff... which is specific wounds like "broken arm".
I like simple roleplayable damage...
The best system I have done so far is handing players wound cards- which have modifiers on. IF the player roleplays the wound, they ignore the modifier- if they act like it doesn't exist they cop the difficulty modifier.
Thanks for the nice comments on the "Padme lives ending" thread. I was asked how I would fix the third trilogy.
Oooh, so many ways. So many ways.
But I have done threads on that back in the day, so maybe necro those.
I think the more interesting thing is what would I write for Starwars going forward if I got handed a budget to develop a pitch and pilot.
I would really try and strike out with totally fresh characters in a story that explores being in familiar events from a different perspective.
Every split in your UVs is a hidden split in your model- which means more vertices in memory. So your memory size goes up which can have a performance hit when scaled up depending on what is being rendered and cached.
The same is true for hard edges and vertex colored faces with sharp faces.
If you have a hard edge, you get a uv split or vertex color face for free.
Remember, this is a memory thing- so a 100,000 tri model multiplies out the verts considerably if you explode all the uvs or use sharp edges everywhere.
Imagine if the prequels ended with a very wounded but alive Padme holding Leia and Obiwan holding Luke, and him saying how strong with the force they both feel, and that The Emperor cannot be allowed to have them...
...and Padme saying they have to run away with them. Obi agrees, but the doors explode and clone troopers enter.
He is PHYSICALLY separated from Padme whilst still holding Luke, and a second explosion rocks the ship as Annakin's ship grabs it in a mirror of episode 4
Obi yells from across the force field he will go around, and Padme realises Annakin is in the building.
She makes the horrible decision and steps into the escape pod with just Leia.
Broken and sobbing, she sees Annakin turn the corner and hits the button.
