A few months ago I wrote about how the Sask. Health Ministry had the Roughriders weigh in on issuing a PSA over COVID-19 cases at the team's 2021 home opener.

A 🧵on why it took so long for me to publish the story for @CBCSask #cdnfoi #SKpoli
cbc.ca/news/canada/sa…
#cdnfoi requests take time.

But the story was delayed because the Ministry of Health failed to comply with @SKGov's own legislated timelines in responding to my request.

It's not just me saying that. A @SaskIPC report set to be released next week agrees.
I filed the request on Aug. 20. Ministry of Health extended the deadline for the request until Oct. 15.

It would not respond until Jan. 10, 2022.
How many times has Saskatchewan's Health Ministry failed to comply with the legislated timeline for #cdnfoi requests?

So many times that @SaskIPC "has continually needed to remind Health of its statutory obligation to meet legislated timelines."
On the eve of this Roughriders season, it's a reminder that government transparency matters. Information matters. The province's inability to comply with its own legislation matters.

It would be prudent for people who haven’t covered/are unfamiliar with Nova Scotia to not attempt to extrapolate tonight’s result and apply it to the upcoming federal election.
.@nspc’s, especially its Leader Tim Houston, have repeatedly and forcefully tried to distance themselves from the CPC.
cbc.ca/news/canada/no…
The provincial campaign was mostly run before the federal election was officially called.

It’s also a province where former Stephen McNeil was the Liberal Premier for 8 years (2013 to 2021) and left a complicated legacy that his predecessor, Liberal Leader Iain…

Never check your inbox. Sometimes people call you racial slurs and other times, like today, you get called a minority hire.

Slurs are worse but I'd like to talk about countering imposter syndrome and the concept of being hired just because you're a minority in media.
First thing first. Everyone should acknowledge that media has historically been and continue to be overwhelmingly white.

It needs to change and get better at representing the diverse audience it covers.
I remember the first time I was told that I had gotten a job because of my skin.

It came right after I got my first full time journalism job.

I worked really hard during school to freelance and network and it paid off with a job.

Good afternoon #yqr and followers of #yqrcc it's Wednesday and that means City Council is meeting at 1 p.m.

On the agenda today is the third and final reading of the bylaw banning conversion therapy. Background can be found linked below. @CBCSask
cbc.ca/news/canada/sa…
Another topic of interest on the agenda. The flouridation of Regina's water. @HeidiAtter has that teed up here:
cbc.ca/news/canada/sa…
Some key context for the bylaw on conversion therapy. There's not going to be any real debate/presentations on the topic. If there are it won't be anything like in previous council meetings.

The topic is likely going to be an up and down vote.

I think the most remarkable thing about the latest episode of #TedLasso is the way it grapples with redemption.

Both Rebecca and Jamie are forced to accept that apologizing isn’t enough.

A 🧵 with spoilers
There are two sides to this.

1) You have to change yourself

2) Accept that apologizing might not be enough.

As Nora says:
“Sometime you have to do the right thing, even if you lose.”
Sometimes redemption is bigger than oneself. We see this in Jamie’s actions later in the episode.

He’s the first non-Nigerian player to black out the sponsor logo.

“You’re my teammate We got to wear the same kit” - Jamie
