Thread: Do you ever wonder why some people deny that #TrumpIsACriminal, or assert that it doesn't matter?
Allow me to share some tidbits from my time inside Cult 45, and since running for the hills away from it on 1/6/21.
Most Americans accept the fact that T**** committed many crimes in his business dealings for years, prior to entering national politics as a candidate in 2015.
Those are serious enough to warrant prosecution now and in the future. But he added to them as a politician.
In 2016 when I decided to support the Republican candidate against HRC, I didn't believe he had committed crimes like tax evasion, bank fraud, wire fraud, RICO offenses, and heaven knows what else. And if you had shown me the evidence, I've had said it doesn't matter because:
I had been sucked in by the most effective and widespread (ongoing) disinformation campaign in world history. To my unending shame, as someone trained and experienced in critical thinking. Not every victim of Cult 45 was someone who had eschewed formal education.
I prefer terms like target or survivor instead of victim, in whatever field we're discussing. I was a target, and I was acquired.
I fell for the abject lie that 45 was good at business, had grown his own wealth from a $1 M loan (not true), had strategically used bankruptcy,
which companies can and do use for legitimate reasons, that allegations of sexism, racism, nativism, and firmly held far right beliefs were merely false allegations in the rough and tumble of politics. That he nurtured genuinely trusting and respectful family relationships,
(which is highly relevant in presidential politics because it goes to character and mental health), that he was stable and had high IQ, that he was physically fit and followed mainstream medical advice in the interests of himself, his family, and the country,
that his allegations about Democrat politicians, opposing Republican politicians, and their respective supporters were true, that he valued the sacrifices and service of all military and law enforcement personnel, and so on.
You don't need to reply to me with other examples...
Because there are thousands of examples I could use. I've selected just the right number and type to get my point across, IMHO.
I think about it all the time. The issue of why someone like me could be so gullible, for four years of my life.
Sharing helps me process it.
Whether we're American or not, the whole world is waiting with bated breath to see the outcome of the 2022 midterms. And then 2024.
Because if Rs gain any more power, then our security and way of life will be gone, too.
That's why I care about US politics, as a New Zealander.
To answer the question I posed at the start of this thread, (and please retweet it in addition to clicking on "like"), most of people you see on Twitter still defending 45 and his (also) violent co-conspirators are sucked in by lies.
Those lies are carefully constructed, by
people at home and abroad who have far higher IQ than 45. And not just higher than him; hundreds of R party and media professionals, too.
The reason I know they are dumb is because they are so careless about self-incrimination. To this day.
Importantly,
I agree that carelessness has been ingrained in them by the long history of white male "conservatives" never being held accountable for their crimes and other misdeeds. This is not unique to the USA, but that country is the topic at hand. White supremacy is the root cause.
The followers don't even understand why ancient and ongoing white supremacy is the root cause of America's present troubles. So they disregard it.
They take it personally, and focus on the idea that they're being accused of personal racism. But it's so much bigger than that.
These days I can only devote time to sharing the reasons for my political beliefs when satisfied the question is asked in good faith.
Accordingly, I hardly ever do it.🤓
I don't have time to write in depth, but will answer good faith questions, one by one. Don't barrage me.
A good rule of thumb is to remember that the maga follower in front of you has likely believed lies about the subject, and about you.
They are trained to hate "socialism" and "communism" and "liberals" and "progressives" and "RINOs" without the first idea what the terms mean.
The people who developed the lies and talking points and propaganda are skilled at political analysis and brainwashing. The Putin government in Russia has been interfering in adversary countries since the day it began in 1999. In fact, the USSR did it for >70 years before that.
Anyone with enough money to hire such analysts and writers can operate their very own propaganda machine. It's all very simple to understand once you realize what has been going on.
When that happens, it can be a huge emotional shock to a person. Safety can be at risk.
I really am past caring about the wellbeing of people who evidently care so little about others, and me. But some of you have loved ones who might one day realize the extent of their own gullibility. Reassure them it is OK to admit the mistake. Do that b4 they realize it, even.
You will know how to calculate your responses so they achieve the most good, and the least harm. I have carefully hinted about it to people in my own life, without embarrassing them or contributing to their pain.
The nonviolent ones... I pity them. The rest need locking up.
I include in the group that need locking up, all those who contributed to the violence, lawlessness, and decline into autocracy, with their words, actions, or intentional omissions, where they weren't violent.
Stochastic terrorism is a thing. I was careful never to do it.
I could see, on 1/6 itself, that 45's omissions (to lead the appropriate peri-event security posture, as any POTUS and VP are able* and duty-bound to do) showed his criminal intent on their own.
The current public hearings are completing the evidential picture.
And yes, any POTUS or VP is fully able to ensure adequate security pre, during, and post event.
All the public land in DC right up to the USCP's perimeter of the Capitol complex is clearly within federal jurisdiction, and the means to achieve security are always available.
One of the first lies the propagandists deployed on their victims was that a POTUS couldn't deploy the right assets to prevent the violence.
And they continue to pretend that Pence couldn't do it either. Apparently he eventually did, but it was far too late. He's fine about it.
Everyone knew what was likely to happen. Pence has no excuse whatsoever. His duty was to inform the DHS, DOD, and DOJ as soon as he knew, which was at least several days before.
Of course, they had planted useful idiots into those agencies, which is further evidence of intent.
Hundreds of people in federal agencies would have known about the grave threat to public safety, which was compounded by the WH withholding appropriate pre-event posture. People should have blown the whistle that morning, at the latest.
I didn't plan to go into that 1/6 security posture stuff but it's vital to remember as we observe the hearings process and other developments.
Please join me in doing everything we can to save democracies around the world, and save lives. This is our moment.

Anyone reading on Jan 20, 2021 the list of T****'s last minute pardon palooza recipients could tell there and then that the clemency powers had been dramatically abused, and that many others would have sought clemency, too.
At the DOJ link above, there are 5 clemency dates between the defeated former president's stunning electoral loss and the day he skulked out of DC before the victorious Biden took over.
(Never forget details like those, BTW. The coward gave the country itself the bird.)
Notable pardons included the clear, long term Russian assets and criminal conspirators Michael Flynn and Stephen Bannon.
They started on the fascist project to undermine American democracy years before T**** launched his presidential run in 2015.
That sealed the deal for me. If it was good enough for my Queen to accept her new daughter in law it was good enough for me.
Over the past 17 years Camilla has worked tirelessly for charities and the national interest and, essentially, has never put a foot wrong. That is rare.
Like all working members of the royal family Camilla has a large portfolio of charitable work including advocacy for osteoporosis research and support, and for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
IMO, Pence is just as culpable for 1/6 as his Dear Leader, in several ways.
For starters, he should have followed the instructions of his USSS detail & evacuated the complex, optics be damned.
Reportedly, JFK decided against using the car's hardtop on the day he was killed.
Pence took it upon himself to risk the lives of other people for the sake of his preferred political narrative.
The right judgment call would have been to respect the superior skills, knowledge, and available intel of the USSS. I don't buy the lie that he couldn't trust them.
Undoubtedly, Pence knew full well that violence that day was likely (we all knew that, because it was discussed in plain sight for weeks. I predicted it 7 days prior, and have the receipts.)
He ALSO knew what the coup plotters had planned! They told him, repeatedly.
I was one of many who said in the first few months of the pandemic that the already high rates of interpersonal violence and self-harm and indeed terrorism, would skyrocket.
Coupled with that is my longstanding concern about security inside hospital and medical facilities.
It's far too early to know enough about the Tulsa shooting to comment on it.
But mass shootings at healthcare facilities is a topic I wrote about in November 2018, below.
(NOTE: At the time I was a maga adherent. I'm certainly not now! #VoteBlueIn22)
John Cornyn, like every other Republican trying to defend the indefensible, doesn't care how bad he looks to most Americans. All he has to do is please his donors and the extremists in the base that vote for him out of fear of "communism."
One of the main reasons I switched from left to right in 2016 was my enduring support for LEOs & military.
I believed Republican lies about the subject until I saw the abject lawlessness of 1/6. A week prior, I publicly predicted violence, but not the large scale of it.
My support for Republicans had been waning after the 2020 election but it was 1/6 that pushed me out of what I had reluctantly observed was a "cult of personality."
Every R who has obstructed the restoration of the rule of law after #BidenWon, has ONGOING blood on their hands.
Blood donation is needed regularly, in every country. An eligible, healthy adult can donate up to 6 times a year.
The pandemic had the effect of reducing blood donations and so the need right now is even greater.
Some of the patients who need it are:
>Women who need a blood transfusion before, during, and after giving birth
>People of all ages with a medical need, including the elderly
>Survivors of trauma eg GSW, MVA, accidents
All need donated blood in order to survive or be healthy.
