Let me share something with you about Nigerian Governors which we've overlooked. Do you know that about 22 states in Nigeria passed a law to make their governors enjoy pension for life whether they become senators or ministers afterwards?

So far, these 22 states include Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Imo, Lagos, Niger, Osun, Oyo, Rivers, Yobe, and Zamfara State.

Former governors in the state are also entitled to furniture allowance, 300% of annual basic salary (N23.3million); house maintenance allowance, 10% of annual basic salary (N778,296); utility allowance, 20% of annual basic salary (N1.5million),

There is also entertainment allowance which is 10% of the annual basic salary (N778,296); and a personal assistant who will earn 25%of the governor’s annual basic salary (N1.9million)

This has been the sad situation amid rising poverty, youth unemployment, inability of most states to pay the new N30,000 minimum wage, poor roads infrastructure, underdevelopment of rural areas plus the ever rising cost of living in Nigeria.
