Ok guys I'll get back to posting art soon I promise, but here's another #Valorant lore thread for now which is kind of a follow up on my last thread. This thread revolves around what happened in Fracture and Chamber's role. speculation inbound:

The first impression after watching Chambers causing the explosion is that he is mercilessly just murdering some scientists for an ulterior motive, I am going to disagree with that assumption based on evidence and clues we've been given.

If you go around that map you can get a feel of how secretive and nontransparent the facility was from the posters alone. You also get the sense of a hopeful attitude on Alpha side and an urgent one on Omega's side. (note no mention of trust on Omega posters):

Then there are emails exchanged between Oran McEneff And Ruben Pontes from Alpha & Omega Earths respectively.
Those interactions made the scientists in fracture personable to us, more than just npcs that we did not meet or know.

After reading their emails we get glimpses into their personalities and families and passions.
This paired with KJ's reaction makes their deaths for us more impactful and emotionally involves us with a tragic event that otherwise we probably could ignore.

We know that Alpha & Omega Chambers have an agreement between them, we're not aware of the details but part of it involved stopping the Large Radian Collider in Fracture Facility.
There are evidence to show us that shooting the collider was probably the last resort for him.

There's been other incidents around people involved in that project including the chief engineer, Thomas Poe, going missing. we can't say for certain if Chamber was responsible for his disappearance in anyway yet but that definitely hinders finishing the collider project.

If you've been around Fracture in custom game mode with the ghost mode on, you probably have been to teleporter lobby in Omega Kingdom section towards the A site. And maybe you have come across the sign pictured below.This can be a big Key for us to understand Chamber in Fracture

My theory based on clues is that Chamber was put in a situation that he had to make a choice between one evil and another. The biggest clue we have is this picture from a security camera that has taken part of Chamber's head and shoulders one day before the explosion.

There's a coded message in the numbers you see there. It says: Between Scylla and Charybdis, but what does that mean?
Between Scylla and Charybdis is an idiom deriving from Greek mythology, which has been associated with the proverbial advice "to choose the lesser of two evils"

Now, where can we find more on story of Scylla and Charybdis? The answer is Homer's Odyssey

Scylla and Charybdis were mythical sea monsters noted in Greek mythology on opposite sides of the Strait of Messina between Sicily and Calabria in Italy
Scylla was a six headed sea monster and Charybdis was a huge whirlpool.

In Homer's account, Odysseus (a legendary Greek king) was advised to steer his ship to pass by Scylla and lose only a few sailors, rather than risk the loss of his entire ship in the whirlpool. And that's what he does. He loses 6 men but saves the ship and the rest of his crew.

In the lore of Valorant, Chamber is in Odysseus's place having to make a choice between Scylla ( blowing up the facility and losing scientists (sailors)) or Charybdis which is the alternative and what could happen if the Large Radian Collider launched successfully.

Chamber chooses to shoot the collider,causing the deaths of some scientists in the process but he is preventing something far more disastrous, but what's that event? it still has not been revealed to us. In Fracture he is in a situation where there's NO correct decision.

The choice is only between bad and worse, so he chooses bad.

This theory also aligns with what Fade mentioned in Chamber's Dossier, that he was doing what he really believed was absolutely necessary and for that he can not stand to be seen as the villain.

We know that Chamber was Chief weapons designer for Kingdom Industries based on his card. I wonder if he noticed plans for some Radianite based weapon and the clues led him to Fracture.

What's more Chamber's plan may still not be over, but it does settle that his intentions are not really evil. The Odysseus parallel kinda can explain the possible crown symbolism in his logo on his back as well... tho it is a very diverse logo and can be seen as different things.
