Today let’s talk about which farming has good PROFIT(ROI) . Let’s discuss… thread
#agribusiness #Farmers
There are many factors that affect profit in farming industry, large percentage goes to feed and water.
Let’s talk about Livestock farming
cows 🐄
Pigs 🐖
Chickens 🐓 layers (eggs)
Chickens 🐔 broilers(meat)
Which one can make more profit to a farmer in 3 years cycle? Farming is not a get RICH fast scheme. But when done right it can be very profitable
Let’s make an example of having to start farming with R20 000 for buying livestock only. There are many other cost when starting farming, feed, medication, land, housing, water… etc.
Cows- you can buy 2 cows and they give birth once a year. A baby(calf) cow can only give birth at 2 years old. So after 3 years u can have 6-8 cows. That’s a profit of R50k to R75k minus feed and other costs
Pigs, with R20 k you can buy 8 females . Each pig will get pregnant twice a year. Pigs make 7 to 13 piglets at a time. A baby pig will give birth at 12 to 15 months. So in 3 years you can have 300 pigs. That’s a profit of R300k to R450k minus feed and other costs
Chicken layers, with R20k you can buy 200 chickens, they will lay 170 eggs every day / 300 eggs a year. you have to change them after 18 months. And put new ones.
So after 3 years you will have 180 000 eggs, that’s a profit of R250k minus feed and other cost.
Chicken broilers: with R20k you can buy 2000 chicks 🐣. They fully grow in 6 weeks. Let’s say you sell them all and buy another 2000 each time for 3 years. After 3 years you could do 22 cycles ( 44000 chickens) . That’s a profit of R440k minus feed and other cost.

This are just average numbers, you can get more or less of this. So all the best in your farming journey 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🐔🐖🐄🐓❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

What do I need to start my own chicken business? Let’s answer this question today… thread 🧵
You don't need to go to school to start farming honestly. You just need to read a lit and surround yourself with people in the same line. The best teacher is experience.
You obviously need to have the space for your babies before anything. You can build the cheapest coop with corrugated iron.( mkhukhu) you can build this yourself
