If #Cosmos was a European football league, it's safe to say it just had its biggest transfer season ever

A recap of the confirmed migrations and why it matters 🧵
The football league analogy is quite appropriate because similar to the major clubs with players, established blockchains often have to extend massive financial offers to attract the top projects
Cosmos biggest catch, however, will run its own app-chain:

Ethereum's most successful L2 app @dydx is leaving the StarkEx roll-up to launch on Cosmos

@dYdX Back in May, liquidation protocol @TeamKujira was the first Terra dApp to announce it was moving to its own sovereign chain

We're now a couple of weeks later and their incentivised testnet is already live
@dYdX @TeamKujira Another big recruit is Terra's biggest credit protocol

@mars_protocol is planning to launch a "Mars Hub" chain acting as a command centre for local satellite markets sitting on existing smart-contract chains like Osmosis & Juno
@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol Another Terra protocol preparing to spin up its own chain to host a suite of DeFi applications is @ApolloDAO

Their products include a yield optimiser for optimal auto-compounds, a multi-sig wallet and payment router
@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO Both Mars & Apollo have received grants to launch on @osmosiszone, along with two other Terra projects:

@tfm_com for multi-DEX hops & volume splitting across the whole Cosmos ecosystem

@kado_money for fiat on-ramping & payment solution

@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money Community-first smart-contract chain @JunoNetwork wasn't to be left behind in the Terra sweepstakes and quickly put together a $5M fund to bid on projects as well

Migrating teams will include @loop_finance (DEX, NFT marketplace, Launchpad), @leap_wallet and @kado_money
@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money @JunoNetwork @loop_finance @leap_wallet I recently talked to a Cosmos team (who shall remain nameless for now) about their efforts to get a significant number of Solana liquidity protocols to launch on their high-throughput Layer 1

The @dYdX announcement will only accelerate that trend

@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money @JunoNetwork @loop_finance @leap_wallet I'll also innocently leave that comment from @compoundfinance founder @rleshner and let people draw their own conclusions

Back in 2020, Compound floated the idea of a Polkadot chain to build a single network of liquidity & avoid fragmentation across L1s

@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money @JunoNetwork @loop_finance @leap_wallet @compoundfinance @rleshner My guess is that we see more high-profile migrations in the coming months.

However, like the Barca, Cosmos can count on homegrown talent

Here's a rough idea of what I'm seeing:
Tier1: 15 teams
Tier2: 50+ teams
Tier3: Too many to keep track
@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money @JunoNetwork @loop_finance @leap_wallet @compoundfinance @rleshner Ultimately, even if hypothetical crypto expert E. Maxi thinks that hardly anyone is using Cosmos, the fact that so many elite teams are currently making it their base should be a signal to start paying attention:

Just like liquidity begets liquidity, talent begets talent
@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money @JunoNetwork @loop_finance @leap_wallet @compoundfinance @rleshner Ethereum's success can easily be traced back to the time when innovative apps started launching there

The probability that the next Champions League winner, aka the next crypto killer app, will call Cosmos home is growing higher
@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money @JunoNetwork @loop_finance @leap_wallet @compoundfinance @rleshner That being said, I'd also invite Mr Maxi to take a closer look on how Cosmos transactions data has been trending over time
@dYdX @TeamKujira @mars_protocol @ApolloDAO @osmosiszone @tfm_com @kado_money @JunoNetwork @loop_finance @leap_wallet @compoundfinance @rleshner I'll be covering all the major projects launching in the Cosmos ecosystem, along with educative & digestible threads on governance, airdrops, wallets & tokens - you can get a sense of what that looks like in my Data Studio reports

Yesterday @dYdX announced their decision to spin up their own chain using the Cosmos SDK, which immediately made the #Cosmos hashtag trending on Twitter everywhere

In this thread, I cover what is DyDx, their decision and the massive impact for both Cosmos & Ethereum roll-ups 🧵
@dYdX dYdX is a decentralised exchange for perpetual contracts

A perpetual contract is a special type of futures contract, which itself is an agreement to buy or sell an asset at a predetermined price at a specified time in the future
@dYdX With futures, the trades are not ‘settled’ instantly ; Instead the two counter-parties trade a contract that defines the settlement at a future date

But unlike regular futures, perps don't have an expiry date and trader can hold a position for as long as they like

A Thyborg exclusive: an upcoming Cosmos L1 with solid backing is in the process of bringing a dozen of disillusioned Solana protocols to their permissioned smart-contract Cosmos chain 🧵
Solana made a name for itself because of the low fees & high
throughput

The official documentation had the theoretical transactions per second (TPS) at 65K

For reference, Visa processes an average of 1,7K TPS and the network can theoretically handle 24K

Ethereum is at 12 TPS
Anecdotally, every time I checked the Solana Beach explorer, the TPS was below 3,000 transactions per second Image

$ATOM - the number thread

A complete breakdown of the key metrics of the Cosmos Hub's native token and King of the Interchains 🧵
If you've missed the first $ATOM thread, you may be interested to give a look first
The public fundraiser event for $ATOM was run by @interchain_io and concluded in April 2017. There were five categories of recipients for the initial supply
1) The early adopters received 7.1%
2) The seed contributors received 5%

The ranking working group is now 62 validators strong. Since several interesting viewpoints & feedback came up on both Discord & Twitter in the process, here's a quick thread to share my thoughts on the best questions & observations 🧵
If you've missed the first part and you have time for some reading, here's the original thread
What’s the end goal?

We aim to provide Cosmos delegators with an efficient way to voluntarily distribute their political & economic power across reputable community validators

We're starting a community effort to build an strong unbiased ranking of active Cosmos validators based on a set of agreed-upon quantitative & qualitative criteria

A statement of purpose and an invitation for all community validators to join the effort 🧵
In Cosmos and other PoW blockchains, validators play the critical role of signing transactions and securing the network

However, a major issue all networks currently have to deal with is a massive concentration of economic and voting power in their validator set
In most Tendermint chains, a small group of validators hold a very significant portion of the supply

The Cosmos Hub is one of the most decentralised chains of the network, yet 15 entities hold over 51% of the total voting power

#Terra's meltdown led many native protocols to look outward to the #Cosmos & realise the benefits of joining an ecosystem of fully interoperable & scalable app-chains

One such project is @mars_protocol and in today’s thread I’m running it through the usual quality checklist 🧵
@mars_protocol If you're unfamiliar with my investment framework, you may want to have a look at this thread first
@mars_protocol The first criteria is the total addressable market (TAM) which represents the revenue opportunity available to the protocol

Mars is a lending & borrowing (also called credit or money-market) protocol

On Ethereum, the top 10 actors in the category capture a TVL close to $15 bn
