An information ecosystem has quickly been built -- catapulting abortion access and rights to the forefront.
🧵 THREAD on abortion disinformation & ways to identify & combat disinfo and share #AbortionFacts instead. /1
The first rule about disinformation is: we don't share disinformation. /2
Even if you have the best intentions of correcting the disinformation, you'll only feed the disinformation into a biased algorithm, which will help it spread even further.
IF you do want to share bad takes, take a screenshot 📸 and then share. NEVER retweet or quote tweet! /3
We love our friends at @prhdocs & Apiary for Practical Support who are always encouraging folks to use inclusive language and de-gender their language when talking about abortion care and access! /4
We know @Google and many third-party period tracking apps are tracking our personal data. Here's a thread from our friends at @ifwhenhow on how to keep your data what it's supposed to be: PRIVATE. /5
This moment in our country's history is dire, and it is easy to become cynical. But we must remember that it is a fringe minority of conservatives who brought us to this moment. /1

BREAKING: Supreme Court released their opinion on NYSRPA v Bruen. The decision undermines states' right to regulate guns -- this is a threat to everybody. Here's why ➡️
Let's be clear: gun violence is a gender justice issue:
▶️ Most mass shooters have a history of violence towards women
▶️ 54% of mass shootings in the United States are connected to intimate partner violence
▶️ 98% of mass shootings are perpetrated by men. theviolenceproject.org
The numbers don't lie: gun violence prevention IS gender justice.

The CEO of @Spotify has doubled down on keeping Joe Rogan on Spotify's platform, despite having regulations on COVID disinformation, which Rogan has repeatedly had disinformation spreading guests on. /2
Rogan aired a so-called "apology video" on Instagram that instead defended how he hosted a slew of anti-vaxx, anti-science guests to share mis and disinformation to his 11 million listeners. /3
Navigating an already complex and traumatic immigration system here in the US, (im)migrant pregnant folks, women, and families also have to deal with a restrictive reproductive health care system. texastribune.org/2021/11/12/tex…
“We have to think about the cultural terrain and context that we live under. Celebrating abortion as a liberating personal freedom is alienating in the social and religious context of most immigrant families." @SSFTexas#BansOffOurBodies#AbortionJustice
.@NationalNOW reported that nearly 50% of immigrant & undocumented women experience violence from an intimate partner, 3x times the national average.

On Dec 1, the Court will consider Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a case dealing with Mississippi's abortion ban that DIRECTLY challenges Roe v. Wade. That’s right, the state of Mississippi is asking the Court to take away your constitutional right to abortion.
3/6 If Roe is overturned, *half* the country are poised to ban abortion. The harm and chaos experienced by folks in Mississippi and nearby states like Texas, will spread across the South and Midwest.
