ONS 🦠 surveillance week ending 24 June 2022.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 50-69yr olds leading the pack with 1 in 24 infected.

Ages 25-34 years old following up close behind with 1 in 25 infected

And rising fast in the over 70s now

Still lower than 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 average of 1 in 18 infected.

We’re idiots.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 both on 1 in 30 infected overall

NI 1 in 25

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 1 in 18.
London is highest, but all regions rising and, EofE, NE, NW and SW all clustering close together

Whilst 🏥 admissions have risen a lot and deaths have started to rise, despite prevalence now exceeding the Alpha peak, 🏥 is three times lower and deaths (ats) 22 times lower
I mean…that 🏥 admission growth line is pretty straight up…and looks as if it is moving towards the unthinkable 2k a day within two weeks, unless some smart slowing occurs that all that *herd immunity* was supposed to prevent.

Then there’s #LongCovid

Despite all Boris’s promises, the stench of decay is yet again wafting along Downing Street -

Boris wasn’t just aware of them – he believed them, and circulated them himself.

And he lied about that mailplus.co.uk/edition/commen…
In 2020, for instance, it is asserted that Johnson said “ the thing about Chris is he’s handsy. That’s a problem”,’ a senior member of the Prime Minister’s inner circle, who was present at the meeting, told me. ‘Then he [Boris] said: “Pincher by name, pincher by nature” Image
Knowing all that he did he STILL went to appoint Pincher as Chief Whip in Feb 2022 and it was only in the face of a backbench backlash that Johnson backed down.

Incredibly, however he was STILL appointed as Deputy Chief Whip.

And not only that Image

H/t @antartica81 for introducing me to this podcast. Fascinating as well as explaining what blockchain seeks to do and why not all crypto coins are equal.

One Coin thought to have raised £4bn was raised globally via a Ponzi scheme.

It was more than just a bitcoin to its victims. It was a worldwide family, a way of life with greeting symbols and doubters called “haters” a fight back against the big banks

And now Dr Ruja Ignagova is the only woman on the FBIs 10 most wanted lists

bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-…
She’s perfectly well qualified with a PhD in private international law from the University of Constance (2005) and is said to have worked for McKinseys for six years. A perfectly decent legal income.

Why do people like this get into this sort of scam?

Well named.

“Falling on his sword” seems an unfortunate turn of phrase in the circumstances.

How many more of these sort of instances? It does seem to be quite exceptional to me. Anyone else have a workplace like this?

More of a Gory Party than a Tory Party.
And it isn’t the first time

Olympic Oarsman, Alex Story, in 2001. Given a glass of whisky & suddenly felt woozy “he became unusually tactile. He then started untucking the back of my shirt, massaging my neck and whispered, ‘You’ll go far in the Conservative Party.’

Dear God.
“I assumed he was suggesting that if I did what he wanted, he would help me get on the candidates’ list, too.”

And also an allegation about a similar advance on ex Labour MP, Tom Blenkinsop

WHAT’S WRONG WITH THEM?!!

Any bets on how long he’ll keep the whip?

UK trade performance falls to worst level on record (1955) in first quarter

The data showed that the UK’s current account deficit was 8.3% of GDP in the first quarter of 2022, a deterioration from an average of 2.6% across all the quarters of 2021.

Yes. There are reasons experienced in Europe and globally apart from Brexit that stilted performance but with all the constraints and shocks experienced by other countries we have added self imposed sanctions through Brexit that add more and more balls and chains. Image
And we have done so just when we MOST need to be nimble.

The £ has lost a lot of value since the Ref and continues to lose value as it is now seen as a risky currency. That pushes prices we pay UP.

And it has not stimulated a counterweight in exports as suggested hitherto. Image

The sun setting on British trade.

“'Stop whining! Just adapt!' say those caring Brexiters. We adapted. We kept adapting. 'Are you ready for Brexit?' asked a gov which gave us just 7 days between the revelation of the deal & the date of departure from the EU.”
“We got ready
Then, after they'd made trade with our nearest neighbours permanently more costly & complex, driving away 2/3rds of our business, we adapted some more. And once we'd done that, they decided the deal wasn't so Oven Ready after all & started agitating for a trade war”
“So here we are, with a shell of a once-thriving business, lucky for the firm to make in a year what it once would've made in a month. And despite everything we've had to overcome, the people who did this to us don't even have the guts to admit what they've done.”

This on repeat

Yes. Hearing plenty of reinfections and new infections.

It is hard to navigate work and social lives when prevalence is high.

I had my first proper “social” away break since before Covid this weekend

Still testing negative but I took precautions and did my best to reduce risk
I went to a wedding deferred x2 due to Covid on Sunday. 100 guests plus staff. So a probability 3 people present with Covid unknowingly.

Most of it was outdoors including a BBQ by the river. It was breezy.

Speeches inside but piped outdoors. And dancing indoors.
I stayed outside 100% and there was no pressure to go inside. Loads of comfortable outdoor seating. Tables set up outside.

I’m so glad I went. The bride and groom are absolutely delightful and thoughtful and that showed in their planning.
