🚨 | Nadhim Zahawi rumoured to be new Chancellor.

Shame Boris could have got someone who didn't break promises in public.

Remember his constantly saying no plans for #VaccinePassport and then brought them in.

Another policy not evidence based which in hindsight was dangerous.
The reason for danger is the Government went out saying vaccines stop you infecting others.

Vulnerable people would have attended events thinking they were all bomb proof when they were not.

Irony unvaccinated who attended events with negative tests posed less risk.
Here was Boris at Xmas saying vaccination stops infecting others

Interesting stat here from Jeremy Vine - 100% of presenters of his TV show have Covid, that’s all two of them.

Asking why the Government are not telling people to stay indoors.

Lockdowns just pause spread, not eradicate it.

Wales still has free access to lateral flow tests and the trend in Wales on infections is similar to England (which doesn't).

🚨🚨 82% of primary school children estimated to have antibodies for #Covid19 in England in March 2022

💥 Of these 81.6% acquired antibodies through natural infection, and 0.4% through either vaccination/natural infection.

Data from ONS School Infection Survey

1/4
The vaccine rollout among primary school children did not start more widely until after March. Currently, around 9.3% of children eligible for vaccination have had one.

2/4
The JCVI had expressed in its statement on offering vaccination for 5 to 11-year-olds that natural immunity arising from prior infection will contribute towards protection against future infection and severe disease.

Eric is off again. He is one of the most dramatic scaremongering commentators on Covid.

He says hospitalisations 'for Covid' are 'soaring' in England.

If you look at those in critical care primarily due to Covid, very few people and a quarter of last year (see next tweet).
He also talks in his thread about South Africa. The new variants did cause a mini wave but that's receded now despite heading into winter.

🚨🚨@faisalislam package on BBC News tonight joining the SNP Brexit propaganda on inflation. Having an ‘expert’ to say prices in the future may rise because of Brexit.

The use ‘May’ again being stretched. Inflation in the UK at the moment in the middle of most EU countries.
We had Nicola Stugeon talking nonsense last week
And Ian Blackford probably singing from the same briefing sheet today

🚨🚨 Deaths registered in England in May 2022 were 5,873 above the average seen pre-pandemic in 2015 to 2019.

➡️ The number is 4,357 above average when taking away deaths due to #Covid

💥 Of the main causes of death, heart disease had the largest number of deaths above average
4,357 deaths above average, assuming all those who died due to Covid would have survived, if no virus, is significant.

This is because of the number of premature deaths through 2020 and 2021.

I will do some work looking at age groups to see if there are any standout excesses.

👇👇 Interesting history here on the Census in England and Wales

1️⃣ In 1801 the population of England and Wales was 8.9 million, not counting those at sea, in the military, or prisoners. That’s roughly what the population of London was in 2020.

ons.gov.uk/visualisations…
2️⃣ 1821 Census showed that almost half the population was under 20 years old, compared with around a quarter today.

3️⃣ In 1871, the census aimed to count mental difficulties, the language used offensive by today's standards, asking if someone was a ‘lunatic’, ‘imbecile or idiot
4️⃣ A question on Welsh speakers in 1891 to those living in Wales was added.

The Registrar General thought the numbers of people only able to speak Welsh were overstated as they included very small infants who were too young to speak.
