Well, obviously, we start with the first three words.
🙄
-|-
"Though largely preventable"
Another paragraph, another first sentence. -|- "With the exception of toothbrushing frequency..."
Whaddya know. A negative outcome is reported. -|- "While we failed to demonstrate a clear association between oral health behaviors and caries among children with IDD"
Laughable. Compare the very first sentence, with the very last sentence. -|- "Data instruments that include calibrated clinical and specific social and behavioral elements are needed to allow a more comprehensive understanding of factors influencing oral health."
First sentence: "Though largely preventable"
Last sentence: "... to allow a more comprehensive understanding of factors influencing oral health."

What the heck is there to "understand"??
#SealantsAreSugarScience. -|- "A sealant is a kind of plastic that is put on the chewing surface of the molars."
No, no it doesn't. When/if the sealant sticks, the occlusal surfaces are the only surface affected. -|- "The plastic seals the tooth and makes it less likely to trap food and germs."
Sure, don't teach children that they alone can preserve the oral health they were born with by cleaning their own teeth. Make them dependent. That is what is known as "patient autonomy". -|- "Your child can learn that going to the dentist helps prevent problems."
"Fluoride was found to be a cytotoxic agent to cultured human pulp cells by inhibiting cell growth, proliferation, mitochondrial activity, and protein synthesis."
"Bioavailable #fluorine is killing us. -|- "In the cellular immunity, we found that sodium fluoride (NaF) in excess of 12 mg/Kg resulted in a significant decrease in the percentages of CD3+, CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD8+ T lymphocytes in the peripheral blood." researchgate.net/publication/31…
To start this weeks #FluorideFriday session, we talk bout overfeeds, accidental poisoning and #fluoridation.
The #StannousFoilHat wearing types do not like to talk about this issue. Never have, either. This from the infamous 1951 meeting.
"The barrel wouldn't fall through."
However, overfeeds are a common issue, along with underfeeds. This Spring it happened again. richmond-il.com/wp-content/upl…
Have no fear, though, it is only a '*cosmetic*' dental problem.
No, no it doesn't. The #prevention of dental disease is in the patients hands, thank goodness. Now if only #Dentistry would get behind #prevention, that would be swell.
This is what an ineffective (worthless) #prevention regimen will get you. Instead of decreasing the need for clinical intervention, let's get another set of hands in the patients mouth!
🙈🙉🙊
Treatment wins, prevention loses. Yet again... dentaleconomics.com/macro-op-ed/ar…
