But most gun violence in America is related to seemingly ordinary disputes that spin out of control and someone goes for a gun. Often, the victim and the shooter know one another. They are co-workers and acquaintances, siblings and neighbors.
They are people like David Guess, who police say was shot by an acquaintance, or Oneil Anderson, who police say was killed in front of his barbershop. There’s Brittany Macon, a Subway worker who was fatally shot by an irate customer.

The Supreme Court on Thursday limited the reach of the nation’s main anti-air pollution law that’s used to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.
The 6-3 ruling declared that the Clean Air Act does not give the Environmental Protection Agency broad authority to regulate emissions from plants that contribute to global warming.
