#Fluoride is #SugarScience. Get over it, change your ways and save the teeth.
#Fluorine for preventing tooth decay is #SugarScience.
#TheyDidntKnow -|- "During the 1920 decade the mottled-enamel-dental-caries relationship was investigated by McKay and by Bunting and his associates -studies conducted during a period when the all-important factor, fluorine, was still unknown."
"When I first reported on this subject, high amounts of fluorine in drinking water had only recently been indicated as the cause of mottled enamel, and the general concept that fluorine has a deleterious effect upon teeth was not easy to abandon. -\- But they did.
#TheyDidNotKnowAndTheyDidItAnyway. -|- "Thus evidence from three different fields shows that #fluorine acts in some way to reduce the prevalence of dental decay."
A decade+ later, they still didn't know.

To start this weeks #FluorideFriday session, we talk bout overfeeds, accidental poisoning and #fluoridation.
The #StannousFoilHat wearing types do not like to talk about this issue. Never have, either. This from the infamous 1951 meeting.

"The barrel wouldn't fall through." Image
However, overfeeds are a common issue, along with underfeeds. This Spring it happened again.

No, no it doesn't. The #prevention of dental disease is in the patients hands, thank goodness. Now if only #Dentistry would get behind #prevention, that would be swell.

This is what an ineffective (worthless) #prevention regimen will get you. Instead of decreasing the need for clinical intervention, let's get another set of hands in the patients mouth!
