The #MadrasHighCourt has recently held that “if a person
belonging to another religion, has faith in a particular Hindu deity, that cannot be prevented nor can his entry into a temple be prohibited.”
A PIL was filed in the court seeking a direction that the non-Hindus should not be permitted to participate in the festival of millennia old Adikesava Perumal Thirukovil at Thiruvattar, Kanyakumari District. #MadrasHighCourt
The #MadrasHighCourt held that “when a public festival like the
Kumababishegam of a temple is performed, it will be impossible for the authorities to check the religious identity of every devotee for the purpose of permitting his entry into the temple.”
The court observed that “It is common knowledge that the devotional songs of Dr.K.J.Yesudas, a Christian by birth, rendered on various Hindu Gods are played without any demur in temples. In fact, in Nagore Dargah and Vailankanni Church, scores of Hindus worship.”
BREAKING: #SupremeCourtOfIndia has ruled that an accused has a right to bail if his arrest was in violation of Sections 41 and 41A of CrPc. The SC made these observations in the case of Satender Kumar Antil vs Central Bureau Of Investigation
SC had already laid down guidelines w.r.t grant of bail to accused who are not arrested during investigation on charge sheet being filed. Detailed guidelines were given by the SC for bail under three different categories of offences
Category A - offences punishable with imprisonment of 7 years or less;
Category B - offences punishable with death, imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for more than 7 years, including economic offences under special acts;
Category C - Offences punishable under Special Acts;
Counsel mentions plea filed by Karnataka High Court additional director general of police of the Anti Corruption Bureau seeking direction to remove remarks made by Justice HP Sandesh alleging, he was threatened to be transfered.
The matter has been mentioned before a bench of Chief Justice of India.

#SupremeCourt will today pronounce order in plea by terror convict Abu Saleem stating that his imprisonment cannot extend beyond 25 years as per the assurances given by the government of India to Portugal during his extradition.
Supreme Court: This Court cannot follow any special law to commute sentences. Criminal law does not have extra-territorial jurisdiction.
SC: The accused was found guilty. Also, the time served by him in Portugal cannot be considered by this court.
