Prime Minister @narendramodi unveiled the National Emblem of #India🇮🇳 atop the new Parliament House on Monday 11 July 2022. This marked yet another important milestone in the decolonisation of Lutyens Delhi.

The 6.5 metre tall National Emblem atop new Parliament House is made of bronze and weighs 9500 kg. It straddles a supporting structure of steel weighing 6500 kg.

The National Emblem of #India🇮🇳 is an adaptation of Emperor Ashoka’s ‘Lion Capital’ atop the Ashoka Column at Sarnath. The capital has four Asiatic lions—power, courage, pride and confidence—seated on a circular base.
