izuku midoriya was a special kind of hero. after he graduated, he went from agencies to agencies, travelling everywhere in the world, always discovering new places and meeting new people, to face the biggest threats of the world.
all for one's death had left the world with his legacy to deal with and izuku had chosen to fight in order to stop it from rising again. it was the battle he had chosen and he never regretted it.
because he never really thought of what he had left behind.
his mind never really wander to red eyes or to a warm embrace he should be longing for. his dreams never really show him the glimpses of what he once had. his heart never really clench as he thought of what he had to let go.
and he never really let the tears fall when he couldn't sleep because he missed him too much.
because deep down inside of him, he knew he had made the right choice.
but sometimes, he couldn't help but wonder.
what if had chosen to stay?

"midoriya izuku didn't get the change to become a pro-hero, but he definitely/was/ a hero. he saved a lot of people, defeated a lot of villains. he gave his all. he trained, hard. i even had to adapte his schedule to match his determination.
i made my share of bad decisions during my time on this earth, but you must know, my boy, that i never regretted choosing you. because if i were given the chance, if i were sent back to that moment when i made you my successor, i would choose you again in a heartbeat.
pirate katsuki who thinks being wanted is a good thing because he thinks the reward is for him and not /for/ him and bouty hunter izuku who has to stop him from surrending if he wants to collect the price for his capture

“congratulation on your success, kacchan,” izuku beamed, grabbing the drink a waiter had brought. “you really made a name of yourself.”
“i told you i would make it big, deku,” katsuki shrugged. “but my goal hasn't
changed, i still have yet to become number one.”
izuku only smiled, putting his beverage down on the table.
“i hope you'll understand then,” he said as he stood up and took out his pistol, pointing it toward katsuki, “because the reward for you is 250,000,000 of berries.”
this is part of my villain!kr X vigilante!dk au where hero dynamight disappears and kr is in charge of the security of dk's civilian persona

Eijirou sat on top of the skycraper, legs hanging in the air,
facing the sea. As the most notorious undergroung villain in town, his eyes alone weren't enough to embrace the whole territory his clan owned.
Taking out his phone, he took a picture of the ocean; of the last rays of light dancing with the waves of the sea that were dying the sky with a warm shade of red.
He sent the picture to Izuku.
Soon he received a selfie of the man hanging out in the festival that was held
izuku knocked on katsuki's door, gripping tightly on the magazine in his hand. katsuki's reaction when the paparazzi intruded on them had been so protective he couldn't help but have questions.
katsuki swing opened the door, looking like he had just woken up.
“oh it's you,” he said as his face softened. “come in.”
izuku entered the room and left the magazine on katsuki's desk. the cover was a picture of the kiss they had shared on the stairs at their last date.
The day Katsuki told his childhood friend that, if he wanted to be a hero so badly, he should just pray for a quirk in his next life and take a swan dive off the roof of a building, was the day Midoriya Izuku vanished without a trace.
The only things left were his shoes and a soaked notebook number 13 the police had found next to a lake that only held bitter memories of their former friendship.
An investigation was run but quickly turned into a cold case. As the missing boy was quirkless,
the police concluded it was more likely to be a suicide. Inko held a small ceremony for him, as temporary funerals, waiting for her son's body to return so she could bury him properly.
