Some Unity users and even moderators within Unity community are infected with the futile ideology of waiting for Godot! This must be fixed! Let me explain why.
This created a mass hysteria on Unity forums. Because of this, Unity folks were heavily discussing Godot there to consider switching to as an alternative to Unity, so I decided to share my perspective there:
It wasn't my intention to start a separate topic. As an ex-developer of Godot, I had to provide my own perspective into this Unity mass hysteria. But Unity moderator decided to get rid of my perspective by moving messages away from the Unity / ironSource discussion:
The above decision was a really strange one since some Unity folks were already discussing Godot quite enthusiastically there. Don't you think it's strange that he decided to move my messages into a separate topic?
When moderator moved it, he called the topic "Some guy talking about Godot". I immediately renamed the topic to something that actually reflected my experience with Godot as an ex-developer with 5 years of experience! That's a big deal, you know! 😊
I expected that some Godot fanboys that have been secretly waiting for Unity to mess up would start to attack me there. And that's exactly what happened!
No matter how viciously Godot fanboy tried to justify his behavior by trying to attack me and outright dismissing the facts I presented, he couldn't make it.
Then you'll see the perspective of Unity's forums moderator who actually expressed support for Godot! He even signed the email for Sony to accept Godot! Reminder: he's the one who moved my messages into a separate topic:
Unity moderator attempted to present himself as a fair player not interested in supporting any side. This is propagandist rhetoric: "Unity and Unreal are weaker without Godot". Bullshit!
Perhaps that's because Juan, the leader of Godot, asked the Godot community to do this, and the moderator of Unity wanted to get "a pat on the back" to get accepted by Godot's trustocratic leadership? 😉
Later on, Unity moderator basically threatened to close the thread if I "keep talking about Godot on Unity forums". Again, it was moderator's decision to create the topic out of my messages in the first place, not mine! His accusation was ridiculous:
I've recently downloaded Unity and even went through some tutorials already. You'll also see a lot of discussions on Unity forums that directly related to Godot, and they are not closed. Ask yourself: why would moderator say those things to me, then?
Interestingly, Unity user replied to my ironic question. He said that he had negative experience with "Godot prophets" on Unity forums. With my own negative experience with Godot, that's exactly what I've been informing about this. I had absolutely no intention to promote Godot.
Unfortunately, Godot fanboys started to dig up "political crimes" against me, the moderator hasn't warned anyone that they actually break Unity forum rules. Therefore, the moderator was interested to make the discussion political in order to eventually lock it.
Eventually, all this madness has created a pre-text for locking the discussion, and of course, moderator was happy to do so, and I couldn't tolerate outright defamation and disinformation. You can read the entire topic above if you're interested.
So, what do you think about the moderator I kept mentioning here: is it a Unity moderator, or a Godot moderator? 🤷♂️🤦♂️🙃😂
Frankly, the above discussion I had on Unity forums was mostly identical in structure when I raised a similar topic on Godot forums, you can follow the thread starting from here:
You'll also see a button called "Nothing to see here", which points directly to Godot subreddit! How about that!
This kind of overt support is not only hypocritical, it also goes against /r/Unity3D community rules! Godot was pinned as the most related community, but there exist other Unity-related communities that are directly related to Unity (obviously!)
Do you want to learn more about Godot fanboyism on Reddit in general? Yeah, the moderators /r/gamedev subreddit are also Godot followers! That's the reason why they deleted absolutely all my posts related to Godot there:
I talk the truth behind Godot, since I've been there. I used to be a maintainer in Godot development community. I repeat: Godot cult has no territorial limits, and I really, really hope that you come to the same conclusion according to these facts.
If Unity community is concerned with the merge of ironSource company which may be associated with something shady, then it may not be the real threat to Unity. The real threat to Unity and other game development communities is Godot's toxicity:
Godot's ideology is entering the minds of many susceptible people. Even moderators of other communities unrelated to Godot get closely attached to Godot on personal level and will do everything necessary to defend Godot's ideology.
If you're really concerned with "trojans" and "malware", then don't you think that you should be more worried about the actual people that act like trojans disguised as official members in other communities? Think about it.
Considering that some #Unity3D users decided to use #GodotEngine, I'd say that's expected. The recent events happened to Unity caused a mass migration of Unity users to other engines, such as Godot.
But according to my research, this migration is mostly caused more by emotions and ideological wars, such as anti-capitalist sentiment in Unity, aka "Trojan horses" in Unity community. No wonder why Godot attracted some Unity users! 😁
Therefore, the mass migration of Unity users to Godot may further exacerbate problems for Godot's direction, especially taking into account that Godot has absolutely no development philosophy. You can already see Godot's lead developer recruiting Unity users now. 😉
Update: I've provided my perspective about #GodotEngine on #Unity forums, again. There exists an existing topic called "Unity 2D vs Godot 2D", which was created in 2020.
You can start reading from my first message there, or the entire topic instead.
I won't go into much detail, but Godot fans were scapegoating me at Unity forums again (read the Twitter thread above for examples), without my notice. All you have to realize is that around 3/4 or 1/2 of people there share Godot ideology, including the moderator.
Some people genuinely expressed interest in what I've been saying. But Unity moderator locked the discussion under weird reasons. Just like it happened before. The topic existed there since 2020, but when I started to share my (negative) perspective on Godot there, it got locked.
Mind you, I'm not against this decision. I don't want Godot fans to talk about Godot on Unity forums either. But when moderator selectively chooses to lock discussions that talk negatively about Godot, while positive feedback is kept, that's suspicious, mildly speaking.
I'll let you make your own conclusions about this. In case the rest of my messages get deleted at some point without my notice in the future, here's web archive pages containing my conversation below:
Here's a few examples of topics directly related to Godot which are not locked on Unity forums. I guarantee you, if I start interacting there, all these topics will be closed as well:
And here's an example of Godot post on Unity forums where I haven't posted at all, but I see there's one person who talks about downsides about Godot much later into the discussion:
Then I've stumbled upon this conversation between Unity moderator and someone who talked about downsides of Godot, which confirms my point. Eventually, the topic got locked! There's a clear pattern of behavior. Moderator's blame shifting is quite apparent here.
So again, I just wanted to show you that Godot ideology is very contagious, that even moderators of Unity forums actively fight off everyone who talks about downsides of Godot there, again, on Unity forums, which ridiculous, if you ask me! 😂
Contrarians, cantankerous, cranky: words that I have learnt from wise person at #Unity. It's reassuring to see people that understand you, no matter how seldom.
I'll continue expressing my critical opinion about #Godot, among other things! 😅
Godot Forums and The Mirror, the next Roblox-like platform, announced a business partnership.
What does it mean to @GodotEngine's supposedly bright future? 🙃

Read the thread below. 🧵👇
To start off, Ariel Manzur, co-founder of Godot, has come on board with The Mirror as a technical advisor. Similar to Juan Linietsky, the lead developer of Godot, he represents Godot PLC and retains a permanent seat at Godot.
Juan Linietsky, another co-founder of Godot, once floated the idea and tested the waters within the Godot community, seeking their thoughts on platforms similar to Roblox. He posed some "philosophical" questions and even collaborated with Ariel on a similar game in the past.
He insinuates that people with negative experiences have no right to "ruin it for everybody". This narrative implies that the information could somehow ruin the entire project. If words hold such power, it raises questions about Godot's true capabilities.
Eventually, the follower of Godot uses other insinuations in an attempt to undermine the authority of the critic and labels genuine criticism as a conspiracy theory, which is typical behavior of members who are part of a toxic cult.
While I do have an emotional attachment to the project, which shows absolutely all signs of being an actual cult, as a former member of it, it's my ethical duty to talk about it. Some people may not understand the entire notion of ethics or duty in the first place, though...
Godot leadership's political stance against a Ukrainian contributor and maintainer has lead to unprecedented consequences for Godot leadership. They didn't expect that I'd continue talking about their wrongdoings for so long, and they thought that they could get away with this.
The "Messiah complex" of Juan stems from his desire to save the world from those "evil" corporations. Taken together with above, he probably wants to show that he's a "Superman":
But perhaps this has more deep roots. Recall the "Thanos" tweet of Juan? Perhaps this "Godot meteor" is connected with his desire to "purge" the userbase that use "commercial software"?
Notice how Godot leadership deliberately leaves out important information when they say it's a company of "Godot veterans", but those "Godot veterans" and Godot leadership are the same persons.
Feel free to familiarize yourself with my previous threads on this topic to understand why Godot is not community-driven and my explanation of why the mentality of Godot leadership is not open as you might have expected:
