My interest has been drawn to a statement credited to @OfficialAPCNg vice presidential candidate @KashimSM by the @DailyPostNGR online print. In the said interview, the APC vice presidential candidate said that @PeterObi can only be president in Igbo land, but not Nigeria. Thread
While I agree that @KashimSM has every right to attack @PeterObi as it is known by politicians, especially in Nigeria; nevertheless I think his choice of attack and words sounds familiar and reminiscent of what we've heard from certain quaters concerning the Igbos
whenever it's election time. I'd rather not go back in time, but would like to start with @KwankwasoRM who made a similar statement while an alliance with Mr Obi was in consideration. Let me state here, and unequivocally too; borrowing from @AishaYesufu own words
No Nigerian is more Nigerian that any other Nigerian. Whether you're Huasa, Fulani, Muslim, Yoruba, Christian, traditionist, rich, poor, educated, uneducated etc; every Nigerian is as Nigerian as every other Nigerian.
But, I'd also warn, and importantly too; that such statements as credited to @KashimSM and @KwankwasoRM is tantamount to ethnic attack and demeaning to the Igbo race; a race that is considered one of the three major tribes in Nigeria. This is so disrespectful and unpatriotic
of a citizen of Nigeria, especially one who desires or seeks to occupy the office of the president or vice president of Nigeria. Statements like these are well capable of inciting lawlessness and spurring agitators , amongst others.
Lastly, I'd like to conclude by saying; been a politician, and one who has benefited from the corrupt political system we run in Nigeria does not make you immune to common sense; one that should avail you the discretion of choosing your words wisely, and more appropriately
especially when it involves the identity of a people within the federation that has been crying for marginalization and sidelined. Need I remind you; that you may become the president of Nigeria that will not include the Igbos, since you do not reckon their part in Nigeria
Since you all are mad and discombobulated about the @PeterObi candidacy cum movement; let me help put it in perspective for you all. @PeterObi simply represents the values that Nigerians, especially youths believe are required for the Nigeria we desire to live and thrive in
His popularity goes beyond the man himself, but what he represents; hope and possibility of fixing the ruin of a country your political class and type bequeathed to us. His candidacy is not because he's igbo; that I am sure you know, but simply refuse to admit
Neither because Nigerians thinks it's the turn of the igbos, it's simply a movement for the emancipation of the Nigerian state from failed leadership, occasioned by our failure over the years to chose the right kind of leadership. Come #2023Elections Nigerians will speak
not like we've spoken before Nigerians will speak in one voice, no longer divided by religion or ethnicity; we will speak in unity to choose a man whom we have seen the values every other presidential candidates lack. Trust me; nothing like what is coming has ever happened before
Guys, I am humbled and really flabbergasted by the reactions and conversation this thread generated, trust me; I wasn't thinking about that when I tweeted. Thank you all. This goes to show how united and focused we're about building the Nigeria of our dream.
I wrote a book years back on social re-engineering of the Nigerian society, titled "letter to tomorrow's leader", which was recently published on @amazon , with @Okadabooks version, and hard copy following sometime this week and month. Please check it out amazon.com/dp/B0B5VWBYNC
I addition to that; I believe we need to have a common umbrella under which our collective ideas and inputs are corporately harnessed and put forward for the purpose of actualizing our dream for a Nigeria that works for all of us; regardless of our ethnic or religious leanings
That said; i hereby introduce to us @advocacy2023 . An umbrella designed to ensure our numerical strength is put to use towards the #2023Elections . It's non partisan umbrella open to all Nigerian youth who desire a change from the failed and corrupt leadership in Nigeria today
to a government that works; regardless of party.
I would consult with my people and others I've already spoken to, for us to host a space in days to come, thereby prepare for a national youth conference (zoom) by the end of the month. DM if you're interested or have suggestions as regards to what needs to be done. Thank you
